This chart, regularly referenced on our show, illustrates the job growth under President Obama as compared with the job growth in the final months of George W. Bush's presidency.
The economy added a net 80,000 jobs in October, according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, dropping the unemployment rate slightly to 9.0%. This includes a loss of 24,000 government jobs.
Herman Cain seems to have survived a rough week politically. The republican presidential candidate even publically embraced his ties to the Koch brothers.
With four days left until Ohio voters decide the fate of SB-5/Issue 2, right-wing groups from around the nation are pouring in ad money in support of the measure. And if you haven't heard by now, The Ed Show will be broadcasting live from Columbus, OH, at the Columbus Firefighters Union Hall this coming Monday and Tuesday!
Ed returns to Ohio
The Ed Show is returning to Columbus, Ohio to cover the fight for workers' rights on Monday November 7th and Tuesday November 8th (election day!). Ohioans are going to the polls to decide the fate of Governor John Kasich's union-busting Senate Bill 5 (now Issue 2) and we will bring you blow by blow reporting and analysis of the fight as it unfolds. We hope you'll watch us both days at 8pm Eastern on MSNBC.
Today The Ed show is also launching a major digital effort to cover all events on issue 2 this weekend and through the vote on Tuesday night. We are launching the twitter hash tag #edshowissue2 so that we can consolidate all information as it develops and make sure that the word is getting to all who need it. If you're tweeting us, or tweeting anything related to the Issue 2 vote, we want to know about it and the best way for us to aggregate info is if you include that hash tag #edshowissue2 with your tweet.
You can follow us on twitter @edshow. We also invite you to share your pictures and stories on our facebook page: Facebook.com/edshow. And, of course, we'll be updating on our blog Ed.msnbc.com.

One percent-ers beware-- Brave New Foundation's Robert Greenwald and 10 progressive media outlets have started a campaign to expose those "Americans [who] have enriched themselves at the expense of everyone else".. and they're calling on the public to name names. There are two criteria: "they have to be in the wealthiest 1%, meaning a net worth over $9 million, and they have to be using their wealth and power to keep down the other 99%. The rest is up to you."
They'll compile the reader-sourced suggestions (coming in from all 11 sites) as nominees for the "worst of the 1 percent" and hold a vote-- the winners(?) will be profiled in digital films (once again, with reader-sourced information) which will be released online through Brave New Foundation. "We want to support the Occupy movement in any way we can, and we're hoping one way is to make these available to ground Occupy actions," Greenwald told Huffington Post.

Another part of President Obama's jobs bill was defeated in the Senate today. Republicans continue to oppose any attempt to get the wealthiest individuals and corporations to pay their fair share of taxes. Presidential candidate Michele Bachmann even believes the lower income Americans should pay more. A new study found thirty Fortune 500 companies that paid no federal income taxes between 2008 and 2010.
Despite his recent bouts with sexual harassment allegations from his past, Republican presidential candidate Herman Cain has yet to suffer in the polls. The Hill reports that details have emerged about the settlement another one of Cain's accusers received.
Ever wonder about the total economic impact the closing of a factory can have on its community and the surrounding area? A University of Arkansas Little Rock study published this week shows exactly what to expect from the closing of the Whirlpool plant in Ft. Smith, AR.
