SICW upset over NWA CSCW
crimefighter
rap_sheet
In a clash of the past versus the present, Southern Illinois Championship Wrestling promoter Herb Simmons took to Facebook recently to complain about NWA Central States titling their next event "The Chase For Greatness: a Tribute to Sam Muchnick." Simmons charged that the promoters of NWA CSCW have no ties to this area, and was “killing other towns” with their shows. It was taken a step further at SICW’s most recent event with Larry Matysik addressing the audience about the matter.

It was toward the end of 2012 that Charles Wilcox, a former member of NWA Midwest announced he was rejoining the NWA. This, during a major exodus of members breaking ties with the NWA under the presidency of Bruce Tharpe for various reasons, including area promotions Metro Pro and Dynamo Pro. Wilcox operated NWA Missouri during 2001 to 2006 before closing up due to difficulties with the Missouri Athletic Commission. Wilcox stated they were going to run their events in Illinois.

Simmons however thinks Wilcox shouldn't run shows on the Illinois side of the river and charged that the promotion and roster was from out of the area – even though the promoter is from Missouri and a check of the hometowns show most of the roster is from either Missouri or Illinois. The wrestlers from outside the bi-state booked at the next NWA CS event include the reigning NWA World Champion Rob Conway, the former NWA NA Champ Bryon Wilcott, and a couple of female wrestlers.

This hasn’t been the first time Simmons has clashed with other promoters. Officials associated with the Independent Hardcore Wrestling cast blame upon him for interfering with a venue in nearby Dupo that forced cancellation of a June 2012 event. IHW folded shortly thereafter. There was also the bitter divorce between SICW and Mid-Missouri Wrestling Alliance, which resulted in SICW having to acquire a different ring and a new Classic Title belt, as SICW was using equipment owned by Tim Miller. Both promotions have moved on, occasionally running head to head.

Why would Simmons feel threatened over the “invasion of his turf” and take the dispute public? What has Simmons aggravated was a message sent allegedly from NWA CS officials saying they were "going to put SICW out of business." The source or contents of that message has not been made public. Regardless, it’s not like there aren't other promotions in the St. Louis area, and SICW is having no trouble filling up the East Carondelet Community Center. Also they broadcast their own television program every week featuring segments from the Chase era. Most wrestling fans don’t associate the current NWA with the era pre-dating WCW breaking away in 1992, much less Wrestling at the Chase. NWA CS has yet to break the three digit mark with the events they’ve run thus far, though they look to change that with bringing Conway in. NWA CS has not tried to run head to head against SICW.

It's clear SICW is in a far better position in the St. Louis wrestling scene than NWA CS. It's also clear SICW has had no interest in the modern day version of the NWA following the Chase era. While the sniping between promotions is nothing new, the fans ultimately will choose where they spend their Saturday evening. We had reached out to Sam's nephew, Irv Muchnick, regarding the tribute who did not respond.

PWG Rankings End of July

Well Blake is the champ, and the former champ is far and away the top contender solely cause he has more wins in PWG than anyone else with just a couple defeats. Team Overkill has reasserted that they are looking for a showdown against the Money Makin' Jam Boyz soon despite missing the tourney final months ago. There's not really a clear top contender for the MA title...the name drawn via lottery would be a suitable challenger at this point.

Hey Chicago can be like Detriot!
crimefighter
rap_sheet

Chicago is not Detroit. Not lately anyway. The two cities share a heritage as great industrial cities on the Great Lakes. Chicago's economy has been more diverse and proved more resilient, enabling it to better hold on to its population and tax base over the past half-century while autocentric Detroit veered off course.

"By any kind of functional accounting of the last 10 years or more, it's been apparent the city is bankrupt," said Matthew Cullen, a former GM executive who helps manage investments and businesses for Quicken Loans founder and Chairman Dan Gilbert. "It was a situation we were aware of and many of us feel like the only thing that's different as of (Thursday's filing) is we've turned to confront this issue as opposed to thinking we could hide from it."

Here in Illinois we have our own problems. Chicago's bond rating got a significant dressing down from Moody's Investors Service, which cut the Windy City's rating three notches on the same day of Detroit's Chapter 9 filing. Yes, we can spend all day highlighting the differences between the two cities, but we're also spending more than we should. To blithely ignore the warning signs of what happened in the Motor City is as dangerous as thinking you can blow past the flashing lights at a railroad crossing.

"Even a vibrant urban area is not immune from balance sheet issues that you need to pay attention to," Cullen said. "If you're creating legacy costs and pension and health care obligations and so on, there's a point you reach whether you're General Motors or Detroit or the city of Chicago or somewhere else where the law of big numbers gets to you.

"People are going to have to pay attention (or one day) they'll look up and realize they should have done something 20 years ago. That's our circumstance. People are talking about bankruptcy today, but it's the actions of the last 20 years, the corrupt politicians, the lack of business involvement in the direction of this city to make sure its leaders were doing the right thing. All of that's needed to maintain a city as strong as Chicago."

Cullen's civic involvement includes serving as chairman of Invest Detroit and the Detroit RiverFront Conservancy. He's also volunteer chief executive of the local light rail initiative, which received a great deal of philanthropic support. And he's leading Gilbert's Opportunity Detroit initiative to spark downtown development.

"The solution in Detroit is going to be investor angels. It's going to be a public-private partnership," said Therese McGuire, a professor of management and strategy at Northwestern University's Kellogg School of Business. "They've been on shaky fiscal ground for a couple of decades.

"The main problem for Detroit that Chicago doesn't have is that their population and economy was just dying. From 2000 to 2010, they lost 25 percent of their population. Only one other city lost slightly more population in percentage terms, New Orleans, and that was because Hurricane Katrina hit them."

Not only will Detroit investment have to be strategic in the years to come. So will disinvestment. Detroit now has 700,000 people living in an area that Cullen said probably could accommodate 2.5 million.

"We have too much of this city where there's a house or two on a block," Cullen said. "It's like operating an auto plant at 35 percent efficiency. We'll just be bankrupt again in two years because there's no way to deploy resources effectively across that kind of infrastructure. You can't provide sewer and lights and police and trash pickup to a place that's so inefficiently populated."

So perhaps some underoccupied areas will be allowed to go fallow. Others may be turned into green spaces or urban farming. It's pretty imagery for what everyone hopes is the end of an ugly era.

Gualberto Ranieri, an Italian whose work over the years has planted him in London, Chicago and now Detroit, where he heads communications for Fiat's Chrysler Group, sees this latest turn of events in his latest hometown in terms of the symmetry of two summers 46 years apart.

The first was in 1967, when rioting erupted July 23 in Detroit.

"Perhaps it's a superficial way of looking at things, but I'm a former journalist and not a scholar of history," Ranieri said.

Scholars of history will note that the infamous 12th Street Riots included five nights of violence, looting and arson that left 43 people dead, a couple of thousand buildings damaged or destroyed and the city itself badly wounded. Whatever bravado it had just four years earlier to vie to host the 1968 Summer Olympics was sapped.

Chicago had its riots on its way out of the 1960s, too, but emerged not nearly so scarred. Like all Rust Belt cities, its manufacturing sector took a beating in the years that followed. But Detroit, despite being tethered to flagging auto sales, might have weathered all of that better under stronger leadership.

"We have huge fiscal problems in (Illinois). We don't have anyone who seems to be taking the long view," McGuire said. "For Chicago, (Mayor Rahm) Emanuel is probably happy that Moody's downgraded the debt because he's going to be able to get concessions from the unions and whoever to make things happen. The problem is his hands are tied by the state. That's where our real political problems are."

Bankruptcy allows Detroit to make dramatic cuts that weak-willed politicians might not otherwise pursue for fear of undermining labor support. But this comes at a price that those of us who live in Chicago can't afford.

"Anyone who thinks bankruptcy is a quick fix to long-term debts like pension underfunding is wrong," said Mike Stanton, publisher of The Bond Buyer, which has tracked municipal financial issues for more than 120 years. "The points in …the bankruptcy-court filing about the extreme decline of city services — the long wait times for police, the huge numbers of nonworking streetlights — are not just colorful anecdotes. …Things have to get really bad before you can start thinking about writing off debts, whether to bond investors or pension holders.

"It's definitely better to work on the issue now than to wait for a true crisis."

Ranieri, whose company's "Imported From Detroit" Super Bowl ads have reflected a vision for the city as a scrappy fighter that wears its wounds as a badge, sees disaster setting the stage for something great, much as Chicago rose from the ashes of its Great Fire of 1871.

"Maybe this tsunami is going to be instrumental for Detroit to have a real renaissance beyond the Renaissance Center," he said. "I don't have a crystal ball, but we are in America and we keep seeing it on the core industry level. So why not?"

Just don't ignore the math.

THE JUKEBOX COMEDY CLUB WELCOMES
HARD CORE LEGEND MICK FOLEY AKA CACTUS JACK ON HIS “TALES FROM WRESTLING PAST” NATIONAL TOUR
WEDNESDAY, AUGUST 7th!

On Wednesday, August 7th, The Jukebox Comedy Club in Peoria, IL welcomes WWE’s Hardcore Legend, Mick Foley. His multi-faceted career has seen Foley turn from 3-time WWE champion to 2-time New York Times #1 best-selling author to his present incarnation as stand-up comic/spoken-word performer. Foley’s nationwide tour “Tales from Wresting Past” showcases his unique style of surreal story-telling and his trademark blend of wildness and warmth that promises to take both wrestling and comedy fans on a memorable and entertaining ride. His shows have already garnered a collection of stellar reviews from around the globe. Chortle, the UK’s most respected comedy source said, “onstage, Foley is charm personified: eloquent, self-effacing and funny.” Best-selling author Paul O’Brien, writing for The Layfield Report raved, “He always leaves them laughing. Laughing, standing at the end and always wanting more.” Even the decidedly non-wrestling publication Broadway Babies mused “If you’re interested at all in wrestling, you’ll love it; if you’re not, you’ll like it.”

One of the cornerstones of WWE’s meteoric rise in the late 90’s, Mick Foley earned the nickname ‘The Hardcore Legend’ for his ability to absorb seemingly inhuman punishment in some of the most dramatic matches in sports-entertainment history. Already a respected veteran for his 11 physically punishing years wrestling under the name Cactus Jack, Foley’s career soared to new heights in WWE as ‘Mankind’, a character Foley claimed was inspired by a combination of reading Mary Shelly’s Frankenstein and listening to the music of Tori Amos.

As Cactus Jack, Foley won the 1995 ‘King of the Deathmatch’ tournament in Yokohama, Japan, and continued wrestling, despite the amputation of his right ear, in a match against Vader in Munich, Germany in 1994. As Mankind, Foley was a 3-time WWE Champion, but is best known for his epic and brutal battle with The Undertaker in 1998’s ‘Hell in a Cell’ match, during which he was knocked unconscious after falls both off of and through the 16 foot Cell structure. Despite the injury, Foley finished the match – with one of his front teeth lodged in his nose.

Foley penned his own memoir, Have a Nice Day The book showcased his paradoxical blend of wit and wisdom, wildness and warmth, and shocked the literary world by hitting number one on The New York Times best-seller list in October, 1999. The book remained on the Times list for twenty six weeks. A follow-up, 2001’s Foley is Good hit number one on The New York Times list as well. Foley has published a total of ten books; four memoirs, four children’s books and two novels.

After speaking at some of the United States most respected colleges and universities – including MIT, Syracuse University, Notre Dame and The University of Miami, Foley decided to take his story telling skills to the stand-up stage, making his head-lining debut in 2009, before a sold-out crowd at the world-famous Hollywood Improv. Mick has since performed at both the Montreal “Just For Laughs” Festival and the Edinburgh “Fringe Fest” – the two largest comedy festivals in the world, and has headlined tours of the UK, Ireland, Australia, and South Korea.

Foley’s acting credentials include ’30 Rock’, ‘Warren the Ape’, Now and Again’, ‘G vs. E’ and ‘Boy Meets World’ and he was featured in the critically acclaimed documentary ‘Beyond the Mat.’ He has done voice work on ‘Squidbillies,’ ‘Celebrity Death Match,’ and ‘Avatar: the Last Airbender’ and was featured in a 2012 episode of ‘Celebrity Wife Swap’. His list of guest appearances includes ‘The Daily Show with Jon Stewart, ‘The Late Show with Jay Leno,’ ‘Late Night with Conan O’Brien,’ ‘Who Wants to be a Millionaire,’ ‘Good Morning America,’ ‘Family Feud,’ ‘Redeye,’ ‘Larry King Live,’ and several appearances on ‘Today.’ He was featured in a 2010 story on ‘ABC’s World News Tonight’ for his work as an online volunteer with RAINN, the nation’s largest anti-sexual assault organization. Foley was also recognized for his work with RAINN at 2010’s ‘Rally to Restore Sanity and/or Fear’ – where he was awarded a Medal of Reasonableness’ from Jon Stewart.

WLW wrestler Jack Gamble & his family seriously injured in head-on collision...
crimefighter
rap_sheet
From Harley Race and the staff of WLW:

We can confirm that members of the WLW wrestling family were involved in a very serious head-on crash. Those involved were Jack Gamble, his wife Casey and their infant daughter Rhylee, along with David Delorean.

They were returning from a wrestling event held in St Louis MO. They were struck head-on outside Gerald, MO on Hwy 50 (at this time the Missouri State Highway Patrol has not released the actual accident report due to the fatality involving the driver of the vehicle that struck the Gamble's) so until the report is released we will only deal with known facts.

UPDATE: 4PM Sunday afternoon

Rhylee has been released to her Grandmothers and Aunts, she sustained on a small abrasion (scratch). The Police officers, EMT's and Doctors have noted that she was secured in the proper infant seat that was properly attached in the back seat of the car for her well being The family added that the grace of God played a big part.

David Delorean, has been released from observation and after spending much of the day in the waiting room he was encouraged to go home to update and be with his family. His condition can be best described as banged, battered and bruised.

Jack (Darren), has had the first of many surgeries that will be required to repair his many fractures and broken bones. He has also been diagnosed with a concussion. At this time he is resting.

Casey, she at the present time is in critical condition. She has sustained severe trauma, in all aspects skeleton, muscle and organ mainly on her left side. At present time she is heavily sedated (induced coma) thus she has been placed on a ventilator. Please note she is NOT on life support as some rumors have it. She was communicating with medical staff until the decision was made to sedate her. Her Medical team has a strategy mapped out, but it will take some time to address all the areas of concern.

The other car of the WLW family Jon, Breanne and Josh were following the Gambles but were not involved in the accident. They instead stayed on scene and communicated with the families, WLW and friends along with aiding in the investigation. With the addition of being at the Medical Center until they were urged by the families of the Gambles to go home and rest. Which at this time they have departed the Med. Center and are on their way home.
THANK YOU !!!!!!!!

Harley, Jason and other staff members of WLW are currently at the Medical center. We would also like to note Dynamo Pro Wrestling for their quick response to this time of need, along with all the wrestlers from the area that have stopped and offered their assistance.

If NMW got out of the hiatus....
crimefighter
rap_sheet
How would I book the comeback show if somehow I found a venue and was granted the ability to make the matches for one night? Now I'm just gonna do the set up...how the match proceeds and turns out I won't put down here. That can be done later.

Main Event - for the vacant NMW Heavyweight title
Tyler Priegel vs. Dixieland Destroyer

Usually I would be calling for a tourney but there are two people owed a title match - Priegel for winning that "Risk vs. Reward" match, and Dixie for winning Brawltoberfest - and yes, he earned far more than a mere trophy that says "I won Brawltoberfest" on it! So both these guys get their title match and we get a vacancy filled. Don't believe Dixie has gotten to main event a card before.

Zero Gravity vs. The Crew

Both these teams have dissension in the ranks, and while it would be easy to put one team with issues against another team that doesn't gives the team that doesn't a big advantage as they wait for the opposition to implode. So putting the two teams with issues against each other puts them on equal footing with the greater chance of one of these two teams working thru their issues and getting their act together. Or both teams implode and switch sides in the middle of the match, or the partners leave and it turns into a one-on-one. A let's watch the fun moment.

NMW Tag Team Championship
The PS Express vs. The Hooligans

They won their match against Zero Gravity, thus they are front and center on challenging for the NMW tag titles...and the Hooligans have been piling up the belts of late. This match was supposed to happen a few different times but something happens to short circuit it. Most frustrating for tag team wrestling in CI is that the tag division in NMW was the strongest most competitive its ever been but the hiatus threw a monkey wrench in the works denying the scene what could had been the original intent of reviving tag team wrestling.

NMW Central Illinois Championship
Jon Magnus vs. Nate Knox

After watching the replay of their previous encounter, a late kickout after a Knox crossbody showed that Nate Knox maybe was robbed of the CI title. Therefore Nate Knox should get one more crack at the title since there is doubt that Magnus actually should still be champion.

Waylon Beck vs. Bloody Harker Dirge

Since Dixie is going for the heavyweight title, what could Waylon do in the meantime? Harker Dirge last time out threw a fireball in Dan the Man's face. Since Dan the Man is out of action for who knows how long, if Harker is going to be in the title picture he should at least face a former champion along the way. And Waylon's motive for taking this match, is that he is one of DTM's best friends and because DTM is out, he steps up to defend his honor.

And we have the rest of the card...which is tricky because you have several people that paired in multiple ways that aren't in a big storyline.

Benz vs. Tom Arson

Benz got beat in that Risk vs. Reward, so he shall start targeting people who were in the title picture for defeat...one of those Tom Arson.

Attitude Inc. vs. ????

After the Blue Ghost nonsense, the Ghost returns and states that NMW administration wanted him to go back to being a tag wrestler so the Ghost announces he has himself a partner and brings out El Diablo Silverado. A clear mock administration moment, to which Tony G comes out to challenge them to a tag match. Tony G gets to pick whomever to team with him...we'll put Matty Montcalm in there from what's remaining on the bench.

Truk Thompson vs. Randy Ray

And lastly we put in two returning wrestlers in a singles match as the opener.

And there is my card for the return from hiatus show.

Why I won't move STLWC from Livejournal...
crimefighter
rap_sheet
Certain individuals have this idea that if the STLWC was on some other blogging service, like Blogspot or Wordpress, that the amount of traffic to the STLWC would somehow magically be much much higher. They also view Livejournal as "outdated" because it used to be popular a decade ago, then blogging got replaced by social networking and text messaging on Twitter. And apparently certain people will not click a link because if a word in the URL contains some "old hat term" despite the content that's on it, they will avoid it at all costs. All of this was prompted by my tweet that STLWC was down due to maintenance on two of LJ's servers which by luck happened to be the two my account is on, one the user account, two the community itself.

Livejournal isn't broken at all, it is still well maintained and developed by the company that owns it. But because it's no longer "trendy" and never will be "trendy" again, the site has in their eyes become completely stigmatized. Oddly enough, the company who founded Livejournal also founded Wordpress, Wordpress I guess is still deemed popular with some folks and MWR runs on Wordpress. Functionality is similar. Perhaps the major dislike is because the creators sold Livejournal to a Russian tech firm?

What makes a move to Wordpress impractical is that there's eight years of postings that would need to be moved with it that would be difficult and very time consuming to do. And then there's the total re-setup from scratch of everything that was on Livejournal on Wordpress. And then there are features of Livejournal that are not available on Wordpress. Then it becomes a matter of having everyone go to the new site versus the old one...but if you were avoiding the old one before, what suddenly will make you go to the new one for the same offered content? The time investment versus the perceived reward of a few more additional clicks just isn't there to justify it.

The people going to either site aren't going there to open a blog account or post content, they are there to read. If they desire to post anything they are going to do it on Facebook or Twitter. They aren't gonna use any blogging site. And why not move STLWC to Facebook and ditch all blogging sites to post everything on it instead? One, Facebook is not at all designed for blogging never has been never will be, two you have to have a Facebook account to read anything on Facebook, three you wanna dig through archives? Forget it! Getting at older posts on Facebook requires scrolling through everything posted after it, you can't just jump to a prior date. The older the post the harder it is to get to it. Oh did I mention there's no way at all to do searches on older posts?

To those who avoid because they dislike the hosting site, I say GET OVER IT. Just because it says stlwrestling.livejournal.com instead of stlwrestling.wordpress.com or stlwrestling.blogspot.com, clicking on it isn't gonna give you "the cooties". Functionality is far more important than trendiness, and I know this for certain because when Facebook made a major change to how it functions by shoving down the timeline function to replace what they had been using for years that wasn't perceived to be as broken, everyone and their mom threatened to leave Facebook for some other site. The bottom line is whomever provides the functionality a user desires they are going to go there and not care what it's called. It is just that simple.

Unreasonable complaints...
crimefighter
rap_sheet
It's been my continued experience that my efforts and what I post on this site are held to a completely different standard than everyone else. What would be fine for a site like PW Ponderings, Bleacher Report, 411 Mania, The Wrestling Press and others to post would be a major point of contention if I were the one posting it. It's quite ridiculous that I continue to be treated this way and yet it continues to elude me how others avoid the crap hitting the fan.

Three area wrestlers went down with injuries over the weekend, its publicly known what happened with two, the third is unknown. The first was eyewitnessed, the extent was unknown until the next day and even then when the result was first posted by Ian Rotten, I held off sharing until it had propagated enough around. Regarding the third, posting "no further details known" (which was correctly stated, because PWC didn't state what injury was sustained, nor how long he will be on the DL) set off a PWC official, who works in the news business himself, and proceeds to lecture me about how I cover an earlier released statement after someone being pulled off the card. Because wrestling which is considered entertainment but portrayed as a sport "the rules about how to cover it" are extremely murky. When an actor gets injured, we're not supposed to ask what happened, though it sure as heck would never ever stop TMZ from asking. Likewise, if a wrestler gets injured, the aforementioned wrestling news sites, or "dirt sheets" as some call these, would not be stopped from asking either.

Maybe I should just merge with a larger site then I would have an upper layer of administration there to push back against whomever has a hissy-fit instead of doing the defending myself against the instigator.

Fw: Brian Breaker speaks out...

From the undisclosed location of Action Hero Brian Breaker,

Just so everything is clear on this. Yes I've officially parted ways with WWE. Since Friday I've gotten a lot of texts, phone calls etc. asking how I was doing and if i needed anything. It's been nice to see how many people care and how many are willing to help me.

Jim Ross once said that a parting of ways with WWE is often good as it gives both the talent and company a break. WWE was not using me well and this allows me to pursue other things. I 100% believe this to be a good thing.

I believe in life things happen for a reason, and this isn't my book closing but just a chapter ending. My book is far from completed and I can't wait see what the future holds for me. I don't think my time with WWE is done either I know Damien Sandow, Ryback, and Brodus Clay all had previous runs before establishing themselves.

I've met a lot of great people since being here in Tampa and wish them all a ton of luck.

Now that everything is clear hit the "like" button if you are ready to see Brian Breaker start kicking some ass again!

ASW officials angered by YANGB & TBW pages

In yet another one of those "only in indy wrestling" stories, officials of a wrestling company based out of Spring Hill, TN known as All Star Wrestling are furious with the Facebook pages known as "Trash Bag Wrestlers" and "You Are Not Getting Booked". While the page owner of Trash Bag Wrestling is not publicly known, YANGB is owned by promoter Tony Givens of NWA Smoky Mountain.

YANGB has been highlighting the bad and worst on the indy scene for the past two years, frequently posting links to bad and embarrassingly awful matches online, but also states what won't get you booked. Givens clearly has been successful over the past ten years, as he has drawn fans in the four-digits to his events recently, and has made available an eBook on promoting wrestling. TBW, inspired by YANGB and started in 2013, has a more narrow focus on the appearances of wrestlers when they step into the ring. The disclaimer on TBW says they aren’t considering one’s ringwork, credentials, or character just their gear. The overwhelming majority of the “talent” featured on the TBW page wear street clothes, don’t have the body of a wrestler, bad promo pics, have really oddball gear that doesn’t make them credible, or costumes brought at Wal-Mart during Halloween. TBW is usually spot on 95% of the time, though they do get it wrong every so often.

ASW was blasted by Givens in late March when they announced in April they were going to hold a "non-pro battle royal" where practically anyone off the street with no training whatsoever could pay $10 to enter it and sign a waiver. They justified this idea by claiming many local organizations including Jeff & Jerry Jarrett held such contests for decades. I've found no evidence to verify this outrageous claim however. Fans who read about the idea protested loudly and justifiably so, some wrestlers even entertained the idea of entering the thing undercover to embarrass the promoters. Chandler Anderson defiantly stated though that they needed no one's approval to do this. It is not known if they actually went through with it.

When members of the ASW roster were featured on the TBW site, Chandler Anderson, who is listed as the general manager of the ASW promotion, started his own FB page in response to the two anti-bad wrestling pages, called oddly enough "You Are Not Getting Trash Bagged". The rational was that TBW was unfairly smearing its talent and YANGB unfairly smearing its promotion. Since I haven't viewed the talent in question perform in the ring, I cannot judge the skill levels of the talent in question. But the pictures that have been featured on TBW of certain ASW members aren't exactly stellar. Looking at past show flyers, TNA talent have been brought in to work their shows with the local homegrown roster.

Fans of TBW proceeded to come to the defense of the page, but ASW officials wouldn't have any of it, and proceeded to delete and block almost EVERY opposing viewpoint on YANGTB'ed. Many have posted well reasoned, polite statements, but those were deleted as well. ASW officials claimed those who posted opposing views were only deleted and blocked for using foul language, which I can tell you is an outright lie because yours truly was booted for simply posting "You Fail." The behavior of ASW officials can best be described as overly defensive, self-conscious, and aimlessly offended. Chandler Anderson however, when confronted stubbornly held firm and was completely unapologetic about their actions.

ASW officials say they are gearing up their legal team over the page, but if a lawsuit is ever filed very likely it would be thrown out as completely frivolous. Just ask Bruce Tharpe when he tried suing Jerry Wiseman over his reporting. Frankly, I'm wondering how their legal team would advise them that a holding non-pro battle royal was a smart move.

UPDATE: TBW decided to close up, as they stated they are tired of dealing with one persons continued threats and intimidation. YANGTB came back up, but they claim they are going to make into something else. I doubt YANGB is going anywhere.

ZERO1 held a press conference to announce a few matches that will be taking place on their upcoming Korakuen Hall show on May 4th.

Jonathan Gresham arrived in Japan soon following his ZERO1 USA X-Division title win on April 20th and will have an opportunity to add 2 more belts to his waist as he faces off against the reigning ZERO1 Japan double crown junior champion in Takuya Sugawara.

Sugawara had previously earned himself a shot at Sugawara and the junior belts with his Tenkaishi (junior tournament) win last year. Gresham did not take the oppurtunity right away to challenge Sugawara, who himself slowly became frustrated that Gresham had never faced him after the win. Sugawara claims to be "the best" junior heavyweight champion, but he cannot fully embrace that claim without facing off against the Tenkaichi champion.

Gresham has spent the last several months traveling the world and honing his craft. Quite a few eyes will be on the this match as it could greatly impact the state of ZERO1 as a whole.

There is also another stipulation put in place that if Gresham manages to defeat Sugawara, both Sugawara and Mineo Fujita will have to join NEW AGE WRESTLING FUTURE. So it seems that the group as a whole is looking to be open for everyone, not just outsiders.

Speaking of NEW AGE WRESTLING FUTURE, they will be aiming to make an impact at the Korakuen Hall show as they will be apart of some key matches on the show. NWF are looking to unite as a cohesive unit and go on to control the future as the next generation stars. KAMIKAZE has already found himself on the wrong end of the newly-formed and he will be looking for redemption as he teams with Ikuto Hidaka, Yusaku Obata and Yoshikazu Yokoyama to take on the NWF team of Craig Classic, Sebastian Concrete, Jason New & Mark Coffey.

Mineo Fujita will be taking on Jack Anthony in a single match before Gresham and Sugawara happens later on in the night. Mineo could end up in the NWF if Sugawara falls. These two will be a clashing of styles with the "pretty boy" Mineo and "the gentleman" Jack Anthony.

In the last announced match from the press event, Kohei Sato will be teaming Shito Ueda and Daichi Hashimoto as they take on James Raideen, Maybach β and Tama Willaims. Raideen stated that he is on a higher level than his opponents as he does nothing but train (strength training) while Ueda and Daichi are trying to gain weight (weight training). Daichi took offense to Raideen's comments and a fight broke out between the two. Ueda was held back by the other two members of NWF. After the brawl, Raideen continued with his comments and he closed it off by saying that they will win at any cost.

Below is the announced card at this time for the show.

ZERO1 "BIG BANG", 5/4/2013 [Sun] 12:00 @ Korakuen Hall in Tokyo
(-) KAMIKAZE, Ikuto Hidaka, Yusaku Obata & Yoshikazu Yokoyama vs. Craig Classic, Sebastian Concrete, Jason New & Mark Coffey
(-) Mineo Fujita vs. Jack Anthony
(-) Kohei Sato, Shito Ueda & Daichi Hashimoto vs. James Raideen, Maybach β & Tama Williams

(-) ZERO1 Junior Heavyweight Championship Match: [Internaional Junior & World Junior Champion] Takuya Sugawara vs. [Tenkaichi 2012 & ZERO1 USA X-Division Champion] Jonathan Gresham

(-) Masato Tanaka's 20th Anniversary Match: Masato Tanaka vs. Shinjiro Otani

Gaming terminology challenged in court

What Gamers Against Gambling want to public to see as true video gaming pictured above versus what is popping up all over the state pictured below, mini-gambling parlors.

A lawsuit has been filed in Illinois state court late on Friday afternoon challenging the terminology being used regarding gambling machines in the state of Illinois. An anti-gambling addiction awareness group, known as Gamers Against Gambling, objects and seeks to stop references to these devices as "video gaming".

Two years ago the Illinois Supreme Court gave the go-ahead to Governor Pat Quinn's new video gambling laws passed to raise money for public works programs. This allowed bars, gas stations and restraunts to install the units inside their businesses under license. Gamers though list in the details of the suit that it is causing confusion among the public to where they perceive video gambling and video games to be one and the same.

"When we think of video games, we think of Pac-Man, Donkey Kong, joysticks, Nintendo...not Las Vegas," said an unindentifed G.A.G. spokesman. "Decades ago players and arcade owners fought tooth and nail against politicians to get pinball and video games legalized for entertainment and lesuire. Arcades had all their machines marked 'For Amusement Only' where we played for fun. Now we fear the public will be fooled into thinking that American arcades are making a major comeback when these places are merely mini-casinos."

Gamers have good reason to worry about the misconception, as it just adds more ammo for critics who have battered the video gaming industry over the violent and sexual content in many recent titles to increase restrictions of their sale. G.A.G. was formed to promote public awareness of the risks for gambling addiction that grow with each new set of machines that are installed. "While you can occupy your time for hours buying a game off the shelf, the rate problem gamblers can throw their money away at one machine creates a number of unintendeded consequences."

G.A.G. considers the odds on winning the suit to be a longshot, but they are betting on the publicity to draw public opinion away from the bad beat of gambling.

Apparently someone predictably had the idea that these instapolls were to actually decide the winner of the NBS Awards instead of the awards committee. Like last year these instapolls were to measure the pulse of the fans to either tell us we picked the correct winner or we were way off. So it seems I have to give a very long winded explanation like I had time to write last year before the polling started (and it was a mere two day window between the decision and the first award to get EVERYTHING online) so the persons who did not win the award would not be able to claim we cheated them.

http://rap-sheet.livejournal.com/399180.html

It seems we have to explicitly tell folks every time in the length of a novel.

Blip.TV makes a major change.

http://www.tubefilter.com/2013/03/05/blip-application-web-series/

That probably marks the beginning of the end of the NBS on blip.tv cause I suspect they are gonna greatly whittle down the programs they host on that website beyond the idiotic directory exclusion policy that they run that does nothing but REDUCE traffic and views on that service, but also reduces how much they have to pay producers. I guess I should consider myself fortunate that I just reached the $25 minimum payout threshold and was paid today after four years worth of episodes. Ugh. Youtube's partnership program is NOT AN OPTION because compared to BlipTV it forces people to jump through way too many hoops and they have to deal with the stupid "content matching" crap. And chances are VERY SLIM you even get approved for a partnership account. There really isn't much in the way of options for making any money to offset the costs of your program out there.

WLW issues a statement on the WWE copyright messages...

Many are asking about the Registration mark of 2013 World Wrestling Entertainment Inc. (WWE) on our New Website http://www.harleyrace.com/WorldLeagueWrestling.htm and Posters that are appearing for the “Live” events produced by World League Wrestling (WLW).

Harley enjoys a very strong personal relationship with the McMahon family and the management staff of WWE, he is an active member of the WWE Hall of Fame as well as a living legend of Professional Wrestling.

Therefore some of the images and logos that appear on both the website and “Live” Event Posters are intellectual property of WWE. They are being used under the guidelines of copyright reproduction and are noted with the Registration mark of 2013 World Wrestling Entertainment Inc. (WWE).

Harley remains the CEO (ownership) of both The Harley Race Wrestling Academy and World League Wrestling. Harley looks forward to continuing to bring Pro Wrestling back to the fans of Mid-America.

With that said it’s time to “SHUT UP and WRESTLE”

So despite the earlier theories on what the copyright messages meant, WLW isn't owned by WWE or has been made its new developmental league.

What Makes Me Ashamed of My Country
February 22, 2013
Rush Limbaugh

BEGIN TRANSCRIPT

RUSH: I'm gonna play the sound bite of me from this program, the portion of the program where I threw up my hands in frustration and just said, "For the first time I'm ashamed of my country." Now, I realize that many of you tuned in today wanting to hear more of this, because you didn't hear it at all yesterday. You weren't here but you heard about it, so you made an appointment to join this program at the beginning.

You wanted to hear what this is all about. You wanted to hear more about it, and I haven't really discussed it yet and you're probably angry, and I want to tell you why. A, I didn't say this yesterday to generate attention, interest, or whatever. I don't do that. That's not the reason I say anything, any day. The second thing is, I'm really serious when I say, "I don't want this program to be about me." So I did the first hour sticking to the issues and so forth.

Of course the third reason was the old broadcast trick of hooking you in and keeping you waiting. It's the old entertainer's creed: "Always leave them wanting more." You never, ever satisfy the audience. That's one reason, but that's third on the list. So let's just get to it in case anybody missed yesterday's program or if you heard about it or you heard it discussed and you're curious. Here, essentially is what I said. I spent more time than this, but this is two minutes, and it's a pretty good summary of what I said yesterday.

RUSH ARCHIVE: Ladies and gentlemen, for the first time in my life, I am ashamed of my country. To be watching all of this, to be treated like this, to have our common sense and intelligence insulted the way it's being insulted? It just makes me ashamed. Seriously, man. Here we get worked up over $44 billion. That's the total amount of money that will not be spent that was scheduled to be spent this year.

In truth, we're gonna spend more this year than we spent last year. We're just not gonna spend as much as was projected. It's all baseline budgeting. There is no real cut below a baseline of zero. There just isn't. Yet here they come, sucking us in, roping us in. Panic here, fear there: Crisis, destruction, no meat inspection, no cops, no teachers, no firefighters, no air traffic control.

I'm sorry, my days of getting roped into all this are over.

We have the media playing along with all this. The ruling class of both parties play along with all this. It's insulting. I don't know how else to describe it. I'm into my 25th year. I can't tell you the number of times this has happened. This hit me yesterday. I've said the same things over and over for 25 years. Whether the Clinton presidency or the Obama presidency, whether it's a Pelosi speakership or Tom Foley (who was speaker when I started), it's the same stuff.

It's the same threats. It's the same arguments over and over. Nothing ever changes! We just keep spending more money. We create more dependency, we get more and more irresponsible from one crisis to the next, all of them manufactured. Except for the real crisis, which nobody ever addresses, and that is: We can't afford any of this.

RUSH: Just one slight error. "Fort Worthless" Jim Wright was the speaker when I started, and Tom Foley came in after "Fort Worthless" Jim was forced to resign. Remember why he had to resign? (interruption) Well, it was Newt but what did Fort Worthless do? Well, in addition to being "Fort Worthless" Jim, he published a book that was a rehash of floor speeches, public speeches, and some pages had only one word. Most pages were double-spaced and some were triple-spaced just to get it up to 200 pages.

The "book," nobody ever bought except the unions. The unions bought the books in bulk but never took delivery. They stayed in the basement of the publisher. Fort Worthless Jim was a shifty guy. I mean, he was. He did the most corrupt things. I'll never forget, he did a response to the State of the Union one year after President George H. W. Bush. It led into the House Bank Scandal, the House Post Office Scandal, and the bottom fell out of the Democrats right in the early nineties over all of this stuff.

Anyway, my point with all this is that for 25 years, folks, we've been dealing with the same premise: "Unless we spend another dime, the country is going to cease to exist." And for 25 years I have responded to each premise on what I call an intellectual, point-by-point basis refuting every claim. The purpose of this program has been to create as large a body of informed voting citizens as possible. While we've been largely and profoundly successful at that, the left has beaten us.

They have created far more low-information, unaware, uneducated people than we've been able to keep up with. We've had a profound impact in improving, increasing that universe of people -- citizens -- who are in the arena of ideas now, who are informed and educated. I've always had a Civics 101 view of the country: People get what they want, they vote what they want, and they get the way they vote.

And if a majority of people are educated and informed and know what's going on, liberalism -- and these powerful forces that have ill intent to the country -- can be defeated. Yet despite overwhelming success in creating more and more people who are informed and active and involved, the left has control of the education system -- control of the pop culture, movies, TVs, books, music. We've just been outnumbered.

The way they've done it is to create more and more dependency, and then every so often tell those people that they're about to lose it all because of the Republicans. That's what we're going through now with the sequester business, which was an idea of the president of the United States. This guy gets away with not even being seen as governing. He's seen as a campaigning outsider on the side of the low-information voters.

He's trying to help them, protect them, save them from the ravages of people like me, supposedly, who want to take everything away from them. I'm just tired of having to defend this. It's absurd, and it makes me ashamed. It makes me ashamed that we have sunk and descended to this level in our politics. In order for the left to be able to advance, they require ignorance, and as much ignorance as possible. I don't mean stupidity. Genuine, real ignorance.

People don't know what's going on. They require more and more of that in order to be successful. The left does not want an informed, participating bloc of people. They want people that don't know what's going on. They want people that can be frightened. They want people that can be scared to death. And they do it. The first time it was ridiculous. To actually have to spend time here and tell people, "No, the Republicans do not want your kids to starve." It's insulting.

Back during the budget battle of 1995, that was the battle cry: Republicans want to starve our kids, and the Republicans, like anybody else, said, "Nobody's gonna believe this," and they didn't actively refute it. People believed it. It makes me ashamed that the Democrats can get away with this. It makes me embarrassed and ashamed of this country. Now, normally the left would love this. The left doesn't like America. They would think, "Oh, wow, Limbaugh's on our side." The only problem for them is I'm saying this while one of theirs is president.

Back during the 1995 budget battle, folks, they actually had students from New Orleans and other Louisiana cities actually sit down in class and write letters to Republican members of Congress begging not to be starved. " Please, Mr. Republican congressman, don't take away my school lunch. I can't learn when I'm hungry." The utter futility of dealing with this. Let's say that was for real -- and of course it will never happen -- but let's just hypothetically say that the school lunch program is terminated. Are America's parents just gonna sit idly by and let their kids go hungry? At what point do the parents enter the scene here?

At what point do people rise up and say, "I don't care, my kid's not gonna go hungry. I'll feed the kid lunch. I'll pack a lunch." But to have to spend time refuting such things as air traffic control will shut down, the military will shut down, there won't be any firefighters, there won't be any cops. We're now into the seventh or eighth episode of this in the last two years, be it the sequester, be it the fiscal cliff argument, be it one of the many arguments over raising the debt limit. In each case we've been forced to refute a bunch of out and out ridiculous lies and assertions, and it finally hit me that accepting the premise and arguing that stuff on the merits is to be a fool.

If we've gotten to the point, in my mind, where we have to take time and tell adults in this country, "No, the Republicans don't want your son to starve" -- if we actually have to take time and say that, and then whether or not they believe it is an open question -- then what's there to be proud of? If hundreds of thousands, or millions, whatever, adults actually believe that there are people who want their kids to starve in this country, then not only is that shameful, it's just downright embarrassing.

It's beneath the dignity of any of us here to even have to try and defend it, and to even take on the task of defending it is to accept the premise, which is to be foolish. I'm fed up with it. I can't do it anymore, after 25 years of the same allegations. And while all this is happening, while all these allegations of austerity, what we're actually doing is ruining the country. We're actually spending more than we ever have. We're actually creating more dependents. The whole thing is shamefully absurd. I don't know how else to say it.
