Jay-Z Lawsuit: Workers' Comp Case a 'Misunderstanding'

Johnny Nunez/WireImage.com

It appears that Jay-Z's short-lived legal battle with the Workers' Compensation Board of New York is over before it began.

Yesterday (Dec. 29), TMZ reported that Jay was being sued for a whopping $18,000, after failing to pay workers' compensation insurance to cover the employees working at his TriBeCa crib for three months in 2009. According to the lawsuit, after the brief lapse, Jay made the proper payments, re-instituted his coverage plan and the issue was resolved, though the $18,000 debt remained outstanding.

The NY Post reports, however, that the 'Watch the Throne' MC is off the hook today (Dec. 31), and that it was all the work of a clerical error. Though the Workers Comp Board had apparently secured a Supreme Court judgement on Nov. 22, Jay's representatives claim that the payment lapse simply never occurred.

Luke James Admits He Was Once a 'Dirtbag,' Speaks on New EP

Def Jam

New Orleans-born crooner Luke James belts out high notes beyond compare. Once his smooth vocals are heard, it's hard to deny his power, his presence and the pleasure his sound brings to the senses. For those unfamiliar with his work, his new single, 'I Want You,' is a good indication of his talents. On the song and in the accompanying video, which can be viewed below, the singer-songwriter croons with conviction, telling his lady love she's the only one he desires.

As the solo newcomer -- he was once signed to J Records as a duo -- re-introduces himself to the masses, his new EP, titled '#Luke,' will serve as the first handshake. From the mellow mid-tempo tune 'Soldier' to the transfixing ballad 'Signs of Rain,' the artist, who's signed to lauded producer Danja's New Age Rock Stars imprint via Def Jam, delivers a commendable project.

Uncover the mystery of this southern soul, as he explains his link to Frank Ocean, reveals a new song he has with Estelle and admits his past as a self-proclaimed "dirtbag."

Lil Wayne 'How to Love': Subway Riders Sing in Video

Gary Miller, FilmMagic

Lil Wayne's 'How to Love' was a surprising turn for the rapper who sung his way through the guitar-laden track, showcasing his softer and more emotive side. Now, a group of L.A. subway riders are bringing more life to 'Tha Carter IV' track, which was released in June.

The Love Project, launched by L.A. local advertising agency Muse Communications, created a cultural experiment where those taking part tried to get "to the heart of what love really means" by performing the Young Money CEO's hit song on public transportation.

In a press release issued by Muse Communications chairman and chief creative officer, Jo Muse, she explained The Love Project was created in an effort to explore culture and share it with a broader audience.

Drake, Dollicia Bryan: Rapper and Model Are Dating

WireImage

Drake has a new lady on his arm and her name is Dollicia Bryan. The Toronto native's lyrics -- see 'Underground Kings' off his sophomore LP 'Take Care' -- prove he only cares about two things: "b----es and rapping," and this 27-year-old lady just happens to be one on the voluptuous side.

Dollicia and Drizzy stepped out together for a night out in Hollywood Wednesday (Dec. 28). The 25-year-old MC wasn't trying to keep his date discreet either, as he posted a photo -- for the world to see here -- of the Smooth magazine cover model eating cotton candy during their visit to Saddle Ranch in L.A., where he took part in a karaoke performance with a fan.
