This 16-bit video game Battlestar Galactica parody by College Humor is pretty spot on when it comes to summing up the entire series. It also does a really good job of spoiling the entire series. Nods to both the classic and relaunch series ahead.

French botanist Jeanne Baret’s (sometimes spelled Baré or Barret) life sounds like it has the makings of a compelling film. The explorer disguised herself as a man and set out on a journey that would make her the first woman to circumnavigate the globe. That was two centuries ago and she’s just now getting recognition, not to mention a plant species named in her honor. 

Aww, buddies! This is a great look at the “friendship” between Tyrion Lannister and Bronn in HBO’s Game of Thrones. Though, come to think of it, the entire series is filled with buddy comedy pairings; Ned and Robert, Arya and Sansa, Jon and Samwell, Khal Drogo and Viserys…

The Hollywood Reporter picks apart the reason why we haven’t seen much news about a Bridesmaids sequel, despite a 900% return on their investment of $32 million in the film. In a time when plans for a sequel are often announced prior to the release of the previous film, it does seem mysterious that Universal wouldn’t be hungry for Kristen Wiig and Annie Mumolo to combine their powers for a second installment.

“We aren’t working on that,” says Wiig, ”Annie and I aren’t planning a sequel. We are writing something else.”

Hayley Atwell, the British actress who depicted Peggy Carter in last summer’s Captain America: The First Avenger, won’t be appearing in The Avengers this year but she’s already got her sights set on stepping back into the role. And hopefully getting to shoot a lot of really big guns. 

A disclosure up front: nobody in the office today watched Pingu, a British/Swiss claymation show that ran in the late eighties. But here’s a quote from Wikipedia:

The Scrabble-like device game Words With Friends has likely ended a few friendships before but none quite like this. Megan Lawless and Jasper Jasperse were strangers before they met through the game on their phones and eventually became friends. Now? They’re married! (and probably still friends too)

Remember when PayPal tried to ruin Christmas? Well now they’ve gone and ruined the New Year, too. What you see above is the remnants of an antique World War II era violin. Why is it lying in ruins (and being cried over by Dawson)? PayPal told the purchaser of said violin to destroy it so he could get his money back. I would say “cue the violins” but well, as you can see, that isn’t possible.
