To everyone on BBG, Happy New Year!

If you're still being bullied, may 2012 be the year being bullied ends for you.

If you're a former victim, may 2012 put you further on the road to recovery.

May 2012 be another year where we unite and stand together against bullying.

Bullying Stories from an Adult Perspective
cheerful
[info]china_kitty
I have just came across this blog while googling "killing a cyberbully with kindness" (yeah, I know it's really stupid of me to think about doing this.) It's called Bullying Stories: Dealing with Bullying from an Adult Perspective. The webmaster himself started the blog way back in 2007 as a way to help dealing with his issues with being bullied when he's young and to help others who are also bullied. Originally he didn't think of sharing other people's stories, but it helps others to find some solutions to end bullying.

I had to say check out the stories (but I had to warn you that some of them might contain triggers.)

That Gender Question
To-Y - Run Niya run!

Came across this when I was going through my tumblr account. :) Think the teacher did a great job. Can relate very well to the child's situation, though I'm pretty sure I was born a girl and well am still a girl...But I wore boys clothes a lot in my later schooling so after being bullied for being Asian I was later then called a man and boy/guy a LOT...I probably acted more like a guy too, though what can you do when most of your friends are guys/boys???

Reporting Posts and Comments

Not that I've had this problem yet, but I figured I would get to the bottom of it before it could happen.

If you would see a comment that's offensive or violates one of the rules, message one of the maintainers or go to [info]bbg_mods to report it. Just give us the link, or a screen cap with the link, where the offensive comment is. The comment will be removed and depending on the rule violated, the member responsible would either be warned or they'll be flat out banned without warning.

And while posts are moderated, I wouldn't be surprise if someone would edit it after it's been approve and put some thing on there that violates the rules. If you would see that, especially if it was made days to months ago, tell us the link of the post and we'll delete it (let that be a heads up for anyone that thinks of adding on offensive shit to the post once it's been approve...it will be deleted since maintainers cannot edit your post). Again, depending on the rule violated, the member of the offensive post would be either warned or banned without warning.

I say this because maintainers cannot always see everything, especially if someone makes a comment on a post that was made months ago. Plus, each person on management has a life offline like everyone else. So, they may not stay on top of everything. Hopefully, with six moderators and eight maintainers, that won't happen but you never know.

Guidelines to Making Posts on BBG
Gerard Butler, moderating
[info]lynn82md
I should've done this last year when I first created the community, but it's better late than never. Right? I've recently made a post for the BBG_Mod community about this, and I figured that I make a post for members so they can know what posts are fine and not fine on this community. That way, if a post is ever rejected, it won't come as a surprise of why it was.

What's acceptable )

What's not acceptable )

Things that go against the rules, but management finds too extreme to reject a post over )

This is what I can think of for now. I'll add to the list if anything comes to mind. I will also save this in memories for future references and add it to the userinfo.

An Idea: I have one
writing

I don't know what brought on the wheels to turn in my mind, but it dawned on me today. You all know how there are rallies to promote certain things or bring awareness. A good example is the recent "Slut Walk" where sexual assault victims took to the streets bringing awareness to people that rape doesn't always happened if you dress a certain way...let alone, cry out against victim blaming.

Anyway, what if there was a rally to bring to awareness of bullying. Sure, it's been in the media a lot. However, I would bet it would get bigger attention if there was a rally and people could literally see how many people are affected. Celebrities that are former victims, or former bullies, can be brought in to do speeches as well as politicans. We could hold a march in the major cities of the world to show that bullying is an issue and it's time for it to end. we could have these rallies in October, especially on the 20th for Spirit Day.

What do you all think?

Anyone looking at bullying through an analytical eye?
RUFUS!!!
[info]rufushonkeriv
I've seen lots of emotional responses to bullying on here.  Is there anyone else looking at it through an analytical eye?

I'm an analytical person.  It's probably one of the things that got me targeted - I was different.  I fell easily for trick questions because I gave straight, honest responses.  I'm not emotional about the fact that I was bullied - I'm over it.  I have cried all the tears I need - I'm at peace.  I'm more interested in the ways adults have gotten over it and moved on with their lives.  I'm happy to talk about my experiences without reliving them because they are over.  I don't hate the kids who bullied me.

I accept and understand that there is no "right" way to get past your experience being bullied - I'm just seeing if there is anyone else has taken a similar route and give them a chance to talk about it.
