Karen Marston, Floating Fire, 2010. Oil on Wood Panel, 14 x 14 inches. Courtesy of Front Room Gallery, 147 Roebling Street in Williamsburg Brooklyn.
Marston’s painful yet alluring disaster paintings are keyed, picture perfect, to Edmund Burke’s definition of the sublime. They are on view in Montrose, a four-person show at Williamsburg redoubt, The Front Room Gallery, where fellow exhibitors are Thomas Broadbent, Sascha Mallon and Miho Suzuki. The show runs through New Year’s Day, but note that it is a weekend only venue (Friday to Sunday, 1-6pm) and is closed Christmas Day. Call 718-782-2556 for details.
