Lindsey Graham — When Ego Gets in the Way Of History
3 Jul 2010
3:39 pm
Oh, Lindsey, Lindsey, what in the name of all that’s holy are you talking about?
On four occasions, [South Carolina Senator Lindsey] Graham met with Tea Party groups. The first, in his Senate office, was “very, very contentious,” he recalled. During a later meeting, in Charleston, Graham said he challenged them: “ ‘What do you want to do? You take back your country — and do what with it?’ . . . Everybody went from being kind of hostile to just dead silent.”
In a previous conversation, Graham told me: “The problem …
I’ve Had Enough of the “Tea Bagger” Slur, Haven’t You?

Mark Knoller, the award-winning White House correspondent for CBS News, was in Washington today covering the President’s attempt to rally Democrats to pass his government-run health care plan. In the course of describing the scene, Knoller shucked off his role as objective reporter so he could drop a casual slur on a significant chunk of America.
Yep, to the objective Mark Knoller, if you oppose Obamacare, you also enjoy dipping your genitals into someone else’s mouth for sexual gratification or as a joke (link NSFW and NSF Lunch either).

Were I a Soldier Right Now, I’d Be A Little Worried

At least “don’t ask; don’t tell” opponents can take solace that they’re not last on the Presidential priority list. That position is reserved for General Stanley McChrystal. Last weekend, McCrystal informed America that his Commander in Chief, who set him in charge of all the forces in that the President called the “central front” in the war we’re fighting, that he’s only spoken to Obama once since his appointment, and that only by teleconference.
The President doubled that number by summoning the general to Air Force One while it idled …
Attention Gay Activists. Gay Activists, Please Report to Under Barack Obama’s Bus.

If you were one of those folks who thought that President Obama was going to roll back the military’s “don’t ask; don’t tell” policy, rest assured that he’s going to get right on that. In a while. You know, whenever he works his way down to it.
President Obama will focus “at the right time” on how to overturn the “don’t ask, don’t tell” ban on gays serving openly in the military, his national security adviser said Sunday.
“I don’t think it’s going to be — it’s not years, but I …
RINO Candidates or Conservative News: Which One is Worth Your Money?

It’s really easy to be an ace journalist for the Atlantic if you never leave your underground blogging lair. On the other hand, real journalists know how to pick up a telephone and make a couple phone calls before they start banging away on their keyboards.
Like the man himself says: Reporting ain’t rocket science.
I do want to take small issue with one thing Stacy wrote in this post.
My good friend J.P. Friere, formerly of The American Spectator and now with the Washington Examiner, likes to say that conservatives don’t …

Victory? Feh. Who Needs That?

Well, at least he’s being one hundred percent honest about things for a change.
Reid: Thank you Mr. President, you just mentioned sanctions that have bite, what kinds of sanction, and I know you can’t get into details but what kind of sanctions at all would have bite with Iran, do you really think that any kind of sanctions would have any effect on somebody like Ahmadinejad, secondly some of your advisers today said that this announcement was a victory, do you consider it a victory and if so why didn’t …

Nice Counting There, New York Times!
13 Sep 2009
4:35 pm
It doesn’t speak well of the New York Times’ layers upon layers of fact-checkers and editors that this paragraph made it to publication.
The demonstrators numbered well into the tens of thousands, though the police declined to estimate the size of the crowd. Many came on their own and were not part of an organization or group. But the magnitude of the rally took the authorities by surprise, with throngs of people streaming from the White House to Capitol Hill for more than three hours.
Of course, if you wanted to downplay …
Someone Get Out the Wetnaps, Van Jones Has Resigned
6 Sep 2009

I’m guessing by now you already know that Van Jones, President Obama’s “Green Jobs Czar” tendered his resignation in the middle of the night last night and slunk back to the fevered swamps from whence he slithered.
His resignation letter is a masterpiece of petulance and dishonesty, anchored by this sentence:
On the eve of historic fights for health care and clean energy, opponents of reform have mounted a vicious smear campaign against me. They are using lies and distortions to distract and divide.
The “smear campaign” consisted exclusively of quoting what Van …
