Pneumonia takes a punch, Cairns family update

My swine flu-like symptoms lead to pneumonia.  Oy vey.  And daughter Ruth is sick, too.  Rodd is back from China and I suppose he’ll now get sick since the whole house is/ was already sick.  Excuse me while I cough up a lung.

PS They love us at the emergency room.  Northfield hospital’s ER doc is an [...]

No health care reform, more starving in America?

The “baby boom bubble” is getting older.  We’ll see less and less workers compared to those who expect benefits.  What if Social Security, Medicare and Medicaid fail?

    http://www.greenpacks.org/wp-content/uploads/2008/09/starving-boy-recovering-1.jpg

    Should we blame this kid?

We’re in this together, folks.  If we don’t see some type of health care reform, how prevalent will [...]

    Abortion, What’s really going on

There are too many abortions.  You know it, I know it, and people who choose abortion know it.  Christains know it, Republicans know it, God knows it, Democrats know it, atheists know it… it’s a fact.

So what do we already do to deter abortion?

    1.  We give money to needy families for each kid.

    2.  We give tax [...]

Karl Rove Talks With the Devil

Here’s an imaginary conversation between Karl Rove and the Devil:

“Why so glum, Karl?” asked the Devil, twitching his tail back and forth, looking slyly.  He already had felt Karl’s pain.

Karl leaned back in his seat. “You promised endless winning, personal satisfaction, and the ear of the most powerful man on earth…and I’m just not feeling it, [...]

John Kline Health Care Reform Town Hall: No support for any bill, and lack of understanding on who would be helped

Two things became clear at John Kline’s Town Hall Meeting:  1.  John Kline followers are not likely to support any health care reform, and 2.  They don’t understand who would benefit from the newly proposed “public option.”

I’ll admit I walked into John Kline’s town hall with prior expectations.  I expect government to work for me and [...]

John Kline Holds Town Hall on Health Care Reform

TY to Minnesota Central’s Mac Hall for this information:

John Kline has scheduled a town hall, “health care reform” meeting on Friday, September 18, 2009. The meeting will be from 6:30 to 8:00 p.m. at Lakeville South High School. Doors open at 6:00 p.m. Parking is available in the lower main lot near the school’s [...]

Dear Mr. President, or at least one of his advisors

    Dear Mr. President

Thanks for coming to Minnesota to talk health care.   After all, we asked for health care reform and thanks for listening.

I have a few questions.  In regards to HR3200, how will the bill:

    1.  Help seniors?  And is it better than what they already have?

    2.  Help those already using a public option? Will it improve [...]

Today’s Political Climate? Are you for me, or against me?

Democrats, let’s keep our eye on the ball instead of  asking for apologies from South Carolina’s US Rep. Joe Wilson (who is being challenged by a guy named Rob Miller, goooo Rob Miller.)

Perhaps we should sit back and ask who might be glad Joe couldn’t act appropriately.  Probably, those that are glad are those that question [...]

Back by Popular Demand: My Idea for a DFL Democratic Platform

Note:  Personal safety/patriotism and job creation has been added to an earlier version of this.  Think statewide, DFL candidates.  Metro thinking won’t get you as far as you want… unless your name is Obama.

DFL candidates who identify themselves as “Democrats” or even as “progressive”could add this list, or the parts they agree with, to the issues [...]

Health Care Reform, Obama in Minnesota

The President of the United States was in my neighborhood today. Fire it up!  Here’s some of what I liked:

“Now is the time to deliver on health care”

    “We have to do something”

Obama is all about good government, or a government that works hard for hardworking families. The demand for health care reform is a sign that [...]
