Brad Friedman Merits the BuzzFlash Wings of Justice Award for Tenaciously Pursuing Stories Exposing the GOP Others Ignore
BUZZFLASH WINGS OF JUSTICE AWARD
BRAD FRIEDMAN
There are a lot of progressive websites that cover the inner workings, latest developments, and peculiar personalities in Washington D.C., but there are also a few journalists who pursue stories ignored or only briefly mentioned by the liberal web – not to mention ignored or misreported by the corporate mainstream media. Such a person is Brad Friedman who tirelessly has written and edited the Brad Blog for many years, focusing relentlessly on issues such as transparent voting and Republican dirty tricks.
Most recently Friedman has posted story-after-story on how the GOP, through cut-outs like Breitbart and FOX, managed to use a trained young right wing operative to bring down ACORN, an organization that empowered poor people and enrolled them to vote. As such, the Republicans had ACORN in its cross hairs and cooked up a shady video “undercover operation” to claim that ACORN employees were somehow involved in prostitution. The corporate mainstream media and Congress fell for the FOX-fueled stunt, even though there was nothing to prove the allegations and it was a clear set up.
As a result of an ensuing smear job, ACORN is now bankrupt. Mission accomplished for the GOP. And the perpetrator of the so-called “Pimp Hoax” was originally charged with a felony for what appears to be a planned effort to plant a listening device in the office of Democratic Senator Mary Landrieux of Louisiana.
But Friedman has been a junkyard dog in disproving and calling to account those who perpetrated this hit job on ACORN, even getting the New York Times to partially admit that it got the story wrong (meaning it had basically been accepting the GOP propaganda about ACORN).
Friedman doesn't get much money to do what he is doing. He sort of cobbles together enough to live on. He substitutes for Mike Malloy now and then, but the most recognized progressive sites, except for BuzzFlash, don't often acknowledge his work for reasons that mystify us.
Friedman is down in the trenches doing the detailed sort of follow-up on specific stories that we need to hold the demagogues accountable for. We are lucky to have him. For his tenacity in exposing hypocrisy and dirty tricks, as well as his emphasis on transparency in voting, Brad Friedman merits the BuzzFlash Wings of Justice Award.

Brad!
Brad should have his own radio show. His subs on other talk shows were the best.
Gread work
I admire Friedman's work of REAL journalism, as opposed to the junk out out by the "mainstream" media. Keep at it, brother!
Bravo!
No one deserves this more. Brad is a true hero and patriot. I only wish more people appreciated his relentless pursuit in exposing the dangers of electronic voting. I for one am very worried about the upcoming election cycle. Between Citizen's United and the secrecy of our voting system, we are in deep trouble.
Thanks Brad!
