  • Three Separate Incidents of Violent Intimidation of Dems by Republican Extremists in One Single Week
Violent Republican extremism?! What violent Republican extremism?! Oh, this violent Republican extremism...from just the past one week alone... • A campaign manager for a Democratic congressional candidate in Arkansas came home to find his family's cat killed, with the word "LIBERAL" painted on it. His 5-year old son made the gruesome discovery. • Five Democratic Missouri state Senators --- four of them African-American women --- discovered rifle crosshair stickers placed on the door...

Brad.. not to change the subject, but something is up in WI. I am FB friends with an activist there and he just wrote this on his page:
"So we just found out that the GOP is donating new (pre-loaded?) voting machines to any municipalities... that want them....free of charge, I thought we were broke? Well there is one stipulation, municipalities are not allowed to discuss with the media that they have received these machines or what type of software is being used (the DOA custom ordered the software last year when they realized there would be a recall election.
The only thing that is keeping the members of the GOP alive is that we have a democratic and legal option of dealing with them. Is this a mass suicide effort on their part? Or are they all really just that arrogant and stupid?!?!?!?"

  • OH's Republican Sec. of State Calls for Repeal of Controversial Republican Election Reform Bill
Ohio's Republican Sec. of State John Husted has called on fellow Republicans in the legislature to repeal their controversial Election Reform bill, rather than see it face a voter referendum currently slated for this November's ballot. The law, if it is not rejected by voters, will severely shorten the time for Early Voting and will ban it all together on the Sunday before Election Day in the Buckeye State, in a way

  • ‎'The BradCast' on KPFK: My Live Interview Today with the Feisty Buddy Roemer...
I was delighted to finally have GOP Presidential candidate and former Louisiana Gov. Buddy Roemer on my KPFK/Pacifica Radio show today! The result was a feisty conversation about corporate money in elections with a feisty, renegade Republican who, frankly, would change the course of both history and the televised debates, in my opinion, were he actually allowed to participate in them. He speaks about being shut out of the debates, names a...

Great interview with Buddy. I am very suspicious of the "American's Elect" group. when they first started out, they were all over FB getting people to take their "test" and I looked it over. It seemed very slanted to Libertarian issues ...and I wondered if Cato was behind it. "Shadowy" is the right term. I would love it if you could get to the bottom of this outfit. They seemed to be trying to attract progressives who are dissatisfied with Obama, just based on their questionnaire. I wondered if they were trying to split the vote on the left. :)See More

Rep. Gabby Giffords (D-AZ-8) officially resigned from the U.S. Congress today, in the wake of her January 8, 2011 shooting during a "Congress on your Corner" event in Tuscon, Arizona. She appeared in the well of the House this morning, along with her friend Rep. Debbie Wasserman-Schultz of Florida, who read her resignation speech though tears....

I think the expression captured on the face of House Speaker John Boehner in the photo above, taken during tonight's State of the Union Speech, is actually more accurately representative than the one of President Obama. Boehner appeared simply stultified at times during the presentation, and for very good reason... I'm not usually a fan of these addresses, even though Obama almost always delivers them well, but tonight he laid down a

  • Will Romney's 2010 Tax Return Reveal Voter Fraud?
The conventional wisdom is that Mitt Romney has been attempting to withhold his tax returns from public scrutiny so that we'll not learn just how small the percentage is that he pays on his enormous income (which is said to be largely reported as capital gains, and thus taxed at just 15%.) But there's another interesting issue that could be revealed when he releases his 2010 tax returns on Tuesday, as promised. Remember

Guest blogged by Duncan Buell The League of Women Voters of South Carolina recently screened Patriocracy, a new film by Brian Malone, who attended the screening and participated in a question and answer event afterward. The film focuses on the question of whether the US political system is broken because politics have become too partisan and the unwillingness of polarized groups to compromise. • Two Years On: 'Citizens United: How Did It Happen?'
What a difference two years and one brutally ugly, obscenely cash-based GOP Primary Election cycle makes. One wonders if even Republicans, at this point, are finally beginning to realize the problems wrought by the U.S. Supreme Court's infamous Citizens United decision two years ago yesterday. If this Rasmussen poll can be believed, the Right-leaning polling firm now finds that 58% of Americans are calling for new campaign finance laws....

At the precise moment the polls closed across South Carolina tonight, with zero votes tallied by the 100% unverifiable e-voting systems the state forces voters to use on Election Day, all the news nets, save for CNN (which, in a short-lived moment of being responsible, thought it inappropriate to call the race with only 2 precincts actually reporting, so they waited until 3% were in before calling it), announced that Newt

  • Alvin Greene Was Here: 100% Unverifiable Statewide E-Voting in SC's 2012 GOP Primary
The voting systems in use for the nation's first three all-important electoral contests in the 2012 primary --- from Iowa to New Hampshire to Saturday's South Carolina Primary --- go from pretty great to intolerably horrible. And then comes Florida, which deserves its very own special category, thereafter. The "First-in-the-Nation" caucuses in Iowa allowed voters to vote on hand-marked paper ballots, counted by hand in front of the public at the caucus

Thanks Brad. I always count on your reporting. I should have known the words in the Demoines Register article by Jennifer Jacobs weren't to be taken at face value based on her comments at the end of the article: "Bush-Gore 2000 in Florida w...as similarly tight... That race was so close that election officials, even with the benefit of voting machines and trained auditors, couldn’t decide who won. It took the U.S. Supreme Court to resolve it.

The caucuses, in contrast, are a loose process in which colored slips of paper are gathered in cardboard boxes and plastic buckets and counted by hand as witnesses gather around — about as precise as choosing a class president."
