Does Ada Fisher have the decency to tell Reince Priebus to resign?
Submitted by Christian Dem in NC on Sat, 02/04/2012 - 1:35pmMany of you know that RNC chairman Reince Priebus had the gall to compare President Obama to Francesco Schettino, the coward who ran the Costa Concordia aground. Priebus has had long enough to apologize, and it's time for him to resign.
You would think that at least some Republican national committee(wo)men at least have some semblance of decency. I'm hoping that one of North Carolina's two representatives on the RNC, Dr. Ada Fisher, is one of them. Drop her a line at fisheram at msn dot com.

Stam's BFF drunk on stomach acid!
Submitted by James on Sat, 02/04/2012 - 11:19amIt was bad enough that Republican leaders like Skip Stam put their (considerable) weight behind getting their little buddy elected to the Apex town council. It didn't matter that the guy had been arrested for drunk driving, he had friends in high places. So it comes as no surprise that Scott Lassiter is looking for a way to avoid taking responsibility for his actions.

Be very afraid
Submitted by James on Sat, 02/04/2012 - 10:50amIn case you thought North Carolina had a corner on Tea Party ignorance, think again.
Across the country, activists with ties to the Tea Party are railing against all sorts of local and state efforts to control sprawl and conserve energy. They brand government action for things like expanding public transportation routes and preserving open space as part of a United Nations-led conspiracy to deny property rights and herd citizens toward cities.
A United Nations-led conspiracy? Are they talking about the same United Nations that can't even get the votes to combat state-sponsored terrorism in Russia or starvation in Africa?

Parties and movements on marriage equality
Submitted by Jake Gellar-Goad on Sat, 02/04/2012 - 12:48amThe North Carolina Democratic Party recently voted to oppose the marriage discrimination amendment, and form the NC LGBT Democratic Caucus. That got me thinking and wondering about where other parties and movements stand, and where support for equality is coming from. Here is what I found. Feel free to add to it.

The power of protest
Submitted by Jane Brown on Fri, 02/03/2012 - 7:03pmAll that outcry via blogs, tweets, Facebook about Susan G. Komen's bad move against Planned Parenthood has paid off. This afternoon, Nancy G. Brinker, Founder and CEO, apologized to the American public
for recent decisions that cast doubt upon our commitment to our mission of saving women's lives.
In the press release, she said:
The events of this week have been deeply unsettling for our supporters, partners and friends and all of us at Susan G. Komen.
No kidding!

Ranked Resolutions dumped by the NCDP State Executive Committee!
Submitted by WakeVerifiedVoting on Fri, 02/03/2012 - 4:44pmAt the January 28th NCDP State Executive Committee meeting, Wake County Chair Dan Blue III made a motion to strike the current section 8.01 (Resolutions) from the NCDP Plan of Organization. This section required ranking resolutions after the body had voted to pass them.
I enthusiastically seconded the motion. The motion was passed by a voice vote but the vote was not unanimous. I sat in the front row and gleefully tore-up my ranked-resolution ballot - which was noticed and commented on by NCDP Chair David Parker.
Various people have been trying to get us to rank resolutions for years but it finally passed at the March 2010 SEC meeting in Durham, NC.

Mitt Romney is ready for His Starring role—In a Grey Poupon Commercial
Submitted by TJ Walker on Fri, 02/03/2012 - 1:26pmRemember the old Grey Poupon TV commercials form the 70s and 80s? Where two stuffy guys in Rolls Royces share Grey Poupon mustard? If you look closely at this updated version you can spot Mitt Romney acting “in character.”
