Rush, “Deaf by Temptation” Limbaugh, aka The Pigman, aka the Oxymoron is running scared, finally having crossed the line from his typical blatant misogyny into ugly, outright slander.
A longtime warrior in the war against women, Limbaugh (who himself could be a poster boy for birth control) tackled the recent (ridiculous) birth control debate with vicious verbal attacks against a 30-year-old law student who testified before Congress of the medical need for insurance companies to cover birth control pills if for no other reason than that 60% of women on “the pill” take it for reasons other than contraception (endometriosis, ovarian cysts, etc). Just an aside, does anybody find it ironic that the Oxymoron is attacking somebody for their stance on a drug? Or that he’s commenting on drugs at all given his checkered history with sexual enhancers and painkillers? Just me?
For this Sandra Fluke was branded a slut and a prostitute by El Rushbo, who proclaimed that if she wanted to be paid for having so much sex, she should post a video on youtube so he could watch, too. His argument is beyond sexist and specious, it’s plain ignorant. Seems he believes you pop a birth control pill like he pops his illegally-obtained Viagra – one pill for each sexual encounter.
Most people, men and women alike, realize that “the pill” is a once-a-day medication, not a “take as you need it” drug like, say, Cialis. It’s been around for decades, but Rush’s been on a lot of various and sundry meds himself, so maybe his memory is missing big chunks of the last century. Either way, so much for being the “best researched” radio show in the galaxy, eh Limbaugh? Are you truly that stupid, or do you just assume your audience is that universally stupid? Or . . . both?
Perhaps Limbaugh’s many waives led him to believe it was “pay to play” for their own personal financial enrichment, but it’s difficult to believe that a man who has been married and presumably sexually active </shudder> with as many women as El Rushbo has, that he has never seen a little plastic pack of pills, with the little calendar inside?
But the real issue, of course, is not Rushie’s lack of research or comprehension, but his insidious, disgusting attack of this particular young lady who’s only “crime” was to testify in favor of coverage for these hormone supplements. That’s enough for El Rushbo to label her a whore. For three days in a row.
Finally bowing to pressure, Limbaugh took the extraordinary step — for him — of issuing an apology to Sandra Fluke, claiming that his slanderous comments about her moral character and presumed sexual promiscuity . . . . for three days in a row . . . were mere satire and that allllllll the hours he spent calling her a slut and a prostitute on hundreds of radio stations from coast to coast across the fruited plane . . .. why, he meant nothing personal against Ms. Fluke, he was just being funny! Ha ha, it was just a joke! She’s a slut – get it? Can’t she take a joke? If she want to get paid for sex I wanna see it on YouTube! Isn’t that good for a giggle?! Didn’t we all think that was funny? It was just a “fluke,” get it? Anyone . . . ?
The tepid, inane apology was as useless as his research department, however, as many of his longtime advertisers FINALLY woke up to the reality of his complete ego maniacal/drug-addled psychotic mania and are fleeing the program as fast as possible, lest every woman in America boycotts their products in protest.
Which is an interesting topic, indeed. In many ways we should thank Limbaugh, and Santorum, for revealing their extreme anti-woman views to the world. The Democratic Party could not buy the kind of anti-GOP publicity these clowns have generated for free this week. As self-proclaimed penultimate representative of the Republican party it draws a glaring comparison between the two main parties, and which group is most likely to preserve your personal freedoms, liberty, and rights.
Rather than being annoyed that the important issues of the economy, the environment, worker’s rights, etc are being ignored – we should be happy that the Neocons are more obsessed with female naughty bits and exerting control over women’s bodies than fiscal responsibility or national debt – it shows us all where their focus truly lies . . . right between their legs.
As we always knew.
