This weekend, please go deeper into the possibilities open to soldiers who are faced with orders to do or keep hidden war crimes.

So focus on getting Bradl...ey Manning's lawyer the right to bring up on the record the question of whether this young man should be cited as a hero for disclosing what appeared to him to be war crimes committed by the gunship team.

If he was mistaken in his judgment, he should be thanked anyway for doing his duty as a soldier. Yes, his duty, or do we forget the principles WE and our Allies set up in 1946 when we rejected the defense of German officers that they were 'following orders'?

We made the point that even a legally issued order does not equal the force of a man's conscience. I was ten years old at the time and I still remember my mother explaining to me that your conscience has to come first; she put it this way:
