    MISSING PERSON
Wow :\ I just got an email from my mother; a friend of hers and lecturer at Napier University, Tom McEwan, has a son at Dundee Uni who went missing over the weekend. Please, please, if you have any information pass it to the police.

You can read a news article on it here at stv. Apologies for linking to the incredibly slow-loading stv - I can't seem to find a BBC article.
    Also in the Courier: http://www.thecourier.co.uk/output/2007/10/31/newsstory10489171t0.asp

It's always a shock when something like this happens to someone you actually know.

    /slashdot. saturdays - weekly drumnbass/electro/techno and indie/punk/newave
After an absence of over a year and a half, The Honeycomb, now known as 'The Hive' makes a welcome return to the Edinburgh clubbing community.

Whilst The Honeycomb specialised in dance, at 'The Hive' we're keen to establish nights that can create synergy between both the electronic/dance and indie/alt crowds by taking full advantage of our twin rooms. It's all about mixing it up, taking a wrong turn in the maze of rooms, and discovering something you never knew you would like. An audio clash of sorts.

Launching on Saturday 14th with a whole host of familiar faces spread over 2 genre-spanning rooms, our new night, /slashdot, epitomises this concept.

Rotating guest DJs sourced from already established local nights will offer an authoritative voice on their respective genres. The first month alone will see Split, Bass Syndicate, Manga, Dogma, Obscene and Access man the main room playing DRUM AND BASS/ELECTRO/TECHNO/BREAKS, while Room 2 sees The Goulag Beat, Fast, Dogtooth and I Fly Spitfires provide INDIE/PUNK/NEW WAVE.

Edinburgh Goth & Rock Soc presents Isa & the Filthy Tongues + support
[info]edgar_society is proud to present ADRENALINE with three awesome live bands!

First up we have local boys Barricks. The half-Irish half-Scottish four piece have been solidly gigging around the 'burgh, playing emotionally powered alt-rock with brilliant technical skill. These boys deserve to be heard!

Second we have local duo Dead on the Live Wire who describe themselves as electronica/Industrial/punk. Bleeptastic with an aggressive edge and worth checking out if you love you music outside the realm of the normal guitar based four piece.

Last by no means least our headliners Isa and the Filthy Tongues! Dirty rock and roll the way its meant to be. With the sultery Miss Stacey Chavis leading the line up these guys have been making huge waves with live sessions on Scottish XFM and recently supporting Killing Joke in Glasgow. Currently signed to Circular Records and releasing debut album Addiction in May, though new single NAE TONGUES/I'LL DO WHAT I WANT will be released in March. See these guys now before they explode.

    Theremin sounds
Only spotted a poster for this yesterday while out wandering at lunchtime.

Pamelia Kurstin - site, myspace, wikipedia
"Band Members: my theremin + 2(line 6 loopers) + electroharmonix bass microsynth pedal and/or moogerfoogers + me sometimes"

From here; "Generator Projects are proud to present the woman lauded as 'one of the most accurate and talented theremin players on the planet'. Really, you shouldn't miss it."
