About 150 gathered at the Hyatt in Dearborn for the Jessica Mokdad Human Rights Conference, named after a 20-year-old Arab-American Muslim woman who was killed by her stepfather last year in Warren.

In Allen Park, voters will be asked to approve a debt-reduction millage for the Allen Park studio property.     NOVI An 84-year-old woman died of smoke inhalation Saturday after she was trapped in a condominium fire in Novi, police said. The woman, whose name was not released, was trapped on an upper story of the Enclave of Novi during the fire, Novi police said in a news release. The Novi Fire Department responded to the blaze at 2:20 p.m.
