The * * * 2012 BMW 335i sport sedan holds the line against the weight gain that detracted from some of the automaker's recent vehicles. At $54,850 for the loaded car I tested, the 335i's price tag is awful hefty, though.
BMW bats .500 with the new fuel-saving technologies in its * * * 2012 528i xDrive sport sedan. That would get a wing of the Hall of Fame named after a baseball player, but it's a ticket straight to the minor leagues for a $49,000-plus luxury car.
There's plenty to criticize about the * * *2012 Fiat 500 Abarth, but the little Italian runabout is irresistible. The Abarth would be a guilty pleasure, if it weren't so hard to feel guilty about a sporty car with EPA ratings of 34 m.p.g. on the highway, 28 in the city and 31 in combined driving.
It's hard to imagine an XL version of the little Fiat 500 subcompact, but Automotive News Europe reports a crossover called the 500X will join the 500L four-door wagon the automaker has already announced. The crossover will offer front- or all-wheel drive.
