Last call

Auctions end on Sunday.

Update: thanks to all who bid. I hope to get everything shipped out by the end of the week.

Second update: Paypal has put a “hold” on all funds paid until mid-May. Guessing this is because the ebay account is a relatively new one, but for fuck’s sake, my Paypal account must be close to ten years old at this point. Anybody work there, or know anybody who does? This is … mildly irritating.

End of week update: everything shipped out today (4/27). Apologies for delay, it was a hectic week due to circumstances beyond my control.

Still waiting for the fine folks at PP to release my money. Because I am, clearly, not to be trusted.

The wanker speaks

Don’t have time today to properly deconstruct Friedman’s latest (though others have given it a good go). Just remember, we have to weatherproof our house, which is a rock, that we live under. Or something. At any rate, this cartoon from last year remains relevant:

Also by now you’re certainly aware of his recent award.

And, also, a walk down memory lane.

Bumpity bump

Just a reminder — got some ebay auctions going on. Right now it looks like some lucky Pearl Jam collector is going to pick up an incredibly rare printer’s proof of the Backspacer cover for, no pun intended, a song.

Sneak peek

Sometime later in the year, my friends and collaborators over at Topataco will be adding a plush Sparky to the TMW store offerings. Just got initial photos of the first attempt, and while it needs some significant revision, it’s definitely a promising start. There’s been a lot of interest in this on the Twitters, so I thought it might be fun to keep you all in the loop as things progress.

More spring cleaning

Still cleaning out the flatfiles: just put some stuff up on ebay, including movie posters (James Bond, Neil Young, Raquel Welch, and Dean Martin!), and — of possible interest to Pearl Jam collectors — two uncut printer’s proofs for the Backspacer cover, which, if they were any more rare, would simply not exist at all. (Also: some other stuff!)

Spring cleaning

Been cleaning out my flatfiles, and decided to offer a few of my personal stash of posters from Pearl Jam’s four night run at the Spectrum in 2009. These are are a set of four silk screened posters, signed and numbered. All four posters in each set have the same number, i.e. 5/100). These are low numbered sets, 5/100 through 9/100. You can see a larger image of them here (watermarks not on actual posters, of course).

Update: all sold out. That’s it for the Philly posters for now (and that’s it for the low-numbered sets forever, at least from me). But I am going to put some other odds and ends up on ebay soon, including some PJ related rarities, so be sure to check back. (And many thanks to the buyers!)

Speaking of the 1970s

This is just about the most awesome thing ever — a trailer for a 1936 version of Logan’s Run (via Mike Lynch).

… adding, because there was some confusion, yes, I understand this is not a real movie trailer.

A forgotten corner of comic strip history

Awhile back at a tag sale, I picked up a strange artifact of a bygone era — a collection of Woody Allen newspaper comic strips from 1978. Who knew that Woody Allen had a newspaper comic? I’m somewhat baffled as to where it might have run (as you probably will be after you see a couple samples), but according to the afterword, the strip was “syndicated in newspapers throughout the United States,” as well as in sixty foreign countries. The nineteen-seventies, go figure.
