    La-Van Hawkins to open restaurant in Greektown

    Former fast-food king La-Van Hawkins is returning to Detroit to reopen the Sweet Georgia Brown restaurant space in Greektown in partnership with millionaire Chicago restaurateur Jerry Kleiner, Hawkins said Friday in a telephone interview. The new restaurant will be a Southern-influenced breakfast, lunch and dinner spot called Detroit's Cheesecake Bistro.

    The city today welcomed a Creole restaurant to the Rosa Parks Transit Center in a five-year deal that brings a first commercial tenant to the downtown bus depot and marks the opening of a second location for an eatery long located near the Eastern Market.
