Publishers Weekly: Web Pick of the Week

the_new_pearl_harbor_revisited1Author and professor Griffin (9/11 Contradictions: An Open Letter to Congress and the Press) knows his work is referred to by officials and the media as conspiracy theory, and he has a rebuttal: “the official theory is itself a conspiracy theory.” In this companion volume to 2004′s The New Pearl Harbor: Disturbing Questions About the Bush Administration and 9/11, Griffin provides corrections, raises new issues and discusses “the two most important official reports about 9/11,” the 9/11 Commission Report and the National Institute of Standards and Technology report on the Twin Towers, both “prepared by people highly responsive to the wishes of the White House” and riddled with “omission and distortion from beginning to end.” Griffin addresses many points in exhaustive detail, from the physical impossibility of the official explanation of the towers’ collapse to the Commission’s failure to scrutinize the administration to the NIST’s contradiction of its own scientists to the scads of eyewitness and scientific testimony in direct opposition to official claims. Citing hundreds, if not thousands, of sources, Griffin’s detailed analysis is far from reactionary or delusional, building a case that, though not conclusive, raises enough valid and disturbing questions to make his call for a new investigation more convincing than ever. David’s achievement goes far beyond his meticulous analysis of 9/11 and his abilities to express plain truth without offending anyone. His theological and philosophical background has helped him to understand and explain the emergence of Evil in our modern society, which apparently lies at the source of such crimes as the mass murder of 9/11. Although he stops short of charging the US government or particular individuals of having masterminded this crime, the conclusion from the wealth of data he presents is inescapable and converges with findings by other 9/11 independent investigators. For those familiar with this matter, it is clear as daylight that 9/11 was masterminded within the American military-security complex.

What distinguishes David Ray Griffin from leftist intellectuals such as Prof. Noam Chomsky, is his profoundly humanistic approach. Whereas Chomsky attempts to explain US policies as the result of “structural” and thus impersonal forces, for which no one, ultimately, can be held responsible, Prof. Griffin’s view is based on the premise that each of us is responsible for his acts of commission and omission. While his view of human volition is grounded on Christian faith, it is also well grounded in our legal system and in the principles of human rights. On this base it should be considered as a violation of our ethical principles to accuse anyone, including Muslims, of having perpetrated the mass murder of 9/11, unless there exists compelling and hard evidence for doing so, preferably evidence that was subjected to a critical examination by an independent court of law or by an independent commission of inquiry. David Ray Griffin has done us the favor to show that such examination has not been undertaken.

I sicerely believe that the large scale pattern of events that led to the NAZI regime and the ensuiung world conflicts is again in motion, this time it is occurring in the United States government. This time it is the American people who are being deceived and the Arab community that is the designated target.
