Solostream Helps Ace College Marketing Project

A short while ago we received a request from Phil Deltatto, a student at the University of Connecticut, who decided that using a Solostream theme would be a great way to stand out in a marketing class of 100 students. We’ll use Phil’s words to let you know what happened.

Here was his first email to us:

I am currently working on a project in a media literacy class. Part of our project is to redesign a website to make it more attractive to consumers. I was wondering if there was anyway you guys could help me. I’m attempting to stand out in a class of 100 students and I believe having access to this template would do just that. I really appreciate your time and consideration!

We agreed to supply him with WP-Chatter and provided him access to our forum.  This was the next email we received and we were really pleased to hear the good news:

Sooo… the project came out great! It looks awesome and was a snap to learn how to use wordpress and the theme you provided me b/c of all the great write ups on solostream’s website!

I can’t tell you how much I appreciate your help, everyone in the class was shocked I knew how to make such a complete functioning website! It really helped me stand out, to the point where my professor praised me in front of the entire class at the end of my presentation for going through the effort of actually remaking the website itself!

With such great results, we asked Phil to send us a note describing his experience using our WP-Chatter theme:

This is my Solostream story…we’ll start with the need for their services.

As a communication advertising major at the University of Connecticut, more often than not, I am faced with the challenge to outperform my fellow students in advertising design projects.  Recently, I was assigned a competitive project where we all received the same client who required an extreme non-profit website design makeover.

Deliverable requirements were simple; according to my professor, power point slides, hand drawings, and Photoshop altered photos were all acceptable and recommended forms of presenting our pitch to this client.  However, in a class of just over 100 students, I felt that in order to stand out, I’d actually present a functioning website.  This is where I came to Solostream for help.

After a snappy google search, I stumbled upon a non-profit website that noted at the bottom of their page that it was designed using Solostream themes.  Impressed with the layout, functionality and graphics this website displayed, I decided to investigate.

Having little, well, lets be honest, no website design or building experience before in my life, I emailed Solostream and told them my story.  They were more than happy to help me with this project and provided me with a theme that I was able to use for this project.  But I was cautioned that they couldn’t spend much time helping me through troubleshooting and that I was on my own.

I was confident though, with computer literacy on my side, just a little help from google searches and having an absolutely fantastic theme to start with…I knew I could pull this off and redesign this website.

I should also note that I have absolutely no, zero, nadda, zilch, zip- experience writing html code, but after using a free two-week trial online host recommended by Solostream, downloading wordpress and importing the theme, I PULLED OFF THE PROJECT WITHOUT ANY SUPPORT! Solostream themes are undoubtedly that user friendly.

The theme’s control panel puts everything into simple language that any computer literate individual can understand.  Making changing copy, font color, background color, adding images, logos, organizing links, making new menus and pages, and I have to stress…literally a piece of cake.  Not just any piece of cake, no, not like the one where you have all the ingredients in front of you and you have to then make the entire cake first to get your piece. It was like it was already done, so sweet.

Working with the theme in wordpress, makes it easy to navigate and modify things specifically to your needs.

Solostream’s help forums were my dictionary for any question I had, allowing me to easily answer any question within minutes of running a search. I found full explainations and tutorials even, specific to the theme I was working with, allowing me to tailor theme exactly the way I needed it!

Ease of use made this project a snap for me, and I’d recommend using Solostream themes to anyone in the process of building a blog or self-promotional website.

The interface is super easy to use, not hard to learn and their customer service and self-help options are on point!

Based on my experience, with no doubt in my mind, I will definitely be using Solostream themes in the future.
