As an early pioneer in electronic publishing and online media, Waldo has worked for some of the best political media companies in the business. He held senior sales and top sales management roles at Congressional Quarterly and Legi-Slate in the mid 80's to late 90's helping successfully build and relaunch early online congressional information services.
In 1999, he moved into online advertising at Washington Post Newsweek Interactive where he successfully managed the corporate, advocacy, media and political categories. In early 2007, Politico recruited him to be their first Associate Publisher tasked with setting up the online advertising operation.
Following his success at Politico, Observer Media Group brought him in as Executive VP and Associate Publisher for Politicker responsible for developing the business and national and local advertising operation for the state political website network. Waldo spent a sabbatical year heading up business development efforts to launch Vote iQ, the country's first social networking platform designed exclusively for voters, politicians and advocacy groups before coming to TPM in early 2011.
He has a BA in Political Science from VCU, an MA in Legislative Affairs from The Graduate School of Political Management at George Washington University and is a graduate of the Public Relations program at the University of Virginia.
