For over five years more than 1.6 million people have been under blockade in violation of international law. AFSC along with 50 other aid and development organizations call to end the Gaza blockade.

The welding group brings their products to show Shan the work they have been doing through the training received from the Livelihoods intervention.

Moreblessing Gwauya, is one of many young people who have shown commitment to bringing change to the community. His courageous spirit and action helped prevent evictions by linking affected renters with human rights lawyers who helped stop many evictions.

A video produced by students in AFSC's Racial Justice Through Human Rights Group highlights the issue of education inequality in the state of Pennsylvania.

Tell Gov. Brewer: Privatizing Arizona's Prisons is Too Costly

The Arizona state legislature recently approved a compromise budget negotiated with Gov. Jan Brewer. The budget will:

• Fund 500 state-run maximum security prison beds the state does not need.
• Fund 1,000 private prison beds the state does not need.
• Pay for these prison beds by using $50 million from a mortgage settlement that was intended to provide relief for victims of the foreclosure crisis.
• Block future studies on the quality and cost of public vs. private prisons in Arizona.

Ask President Obama to investigate deaths on the U.S.-Mexico border

On May 28, 2010, Anastasio Hernández Rojas died as a result of a beating and tasing by U.S. Border Patrol agents in San Diego. We are asking President Obama to open an investigation into all the deaths caused by the U.S. Border Patrol along the U.S.-Mexico border.
