Judge won't block premiere of 'Glass House'

1 hour ago | EW - Inside TV | See recent EW.com - Inside TV news »

CBS failed to convince a federal judge Friday that ABC’s Glass House should not premiere Monday because it’s too much like Big Brother.

In denying the temporary restraining order, U.S. District Judge Gary A. Feess said the differences between the two reality shows are enough to demonstrate that ABC didn’t flat-out rip off the CBS franchise. “The audience involvement playing a constant role is very likely to induce quite different behavior than one would see on Big Brother,” the judge said.

He also disputed the idea that “trade secrets” were swiped from the CBS show, since »

Disney Wows Analysts With Preview Of New Park Attractions, And Prices

50 minutes ago | Deadline TV | See recent Deadline TV news »

As proud members of the 1% club, Wall Street analysts have little in common with most of the people Disney hopes to attract with its renovations at the California Adventure theme park, including the new Cars Land attraction. Still, reports out this morning indicate that yesterday’s look-see for the money mavens was a hit. Miller Tabak & Co’s David Joyce raised his long term price target for Disney stock to $56 from $53 and increased his fiscal 2012 revenue estimate 4.6% to $42.8B. He based the change in part on his expectation that attendance at the park will grow 7% this quarter with per-capita spending +5% — and attendance and spending both will be +4% in the next two quarters. Needham & Co’s Laura Martin provided one of the most thorough reviews: “Nobody is better at line management than Disney, and they are innovating with more immersive storytelling in the lines while you wait,” she says. TV ratings: NBA Finals dominates Thursday, 'Saving Hope' rises a little

2 hours ago | Zap2It - From Inside the Box | See recent Zap2It - From Inside the Box news »

Fast National ratings for Thursday, June 14, 2012

The Miami Heat evened their NBA Finals series with the Oklahoma City Thunder Thursday night and delivered a big ratings win for ABC.

The game's ratings were up slightly from Tuesday's series opener, and it led the adults 18-49 demographic by a huge margin. Elsewhere, NBC's summer drama "Saving Hope" was also up in viewers (a bigger lead-in didn't hurt), but Fox's dating shows "Take Me Out" and "The Choice" both fell from last week's numbers.

ABC averaged 11.3 million viewers and a 7.1 rating/12 share in households in the fast nationals -- numbers that will rise some when adjusted for the live NBA coverage. CBS (7 million, 4.6/8) came in second, a good distance ahead of NBC (4.6 million, 3.0/5). Fox took fourth with 3.1 million viewers and a 2.0/3. The CW trailed with 670,000 viewers and a 0.5/1.

ABC's 4.7 rating among adults 18-49 beat the combined total of the other four networks. »
