    Local and federal law enforcement officials arrested 70 people and recovered six teens during a three-day crackdown on child prostitution. The effort was part of a national initiative dubbed Operation Cross Country, in which local, state and federal law enforcement officers set out to arrest pimps and rescue children forced into the sex trade, FBI spokesman Simon Shaykhet said Monday.

    A campaign to sink drunken boating

    The U.S. Coast Guard is launching its annual nationwide campaign to discourage drunken boating. Operation Dry Water, which starts this weekend, emphasizes the dangers of driving a boat or personal watercraft under the influence of drugs or alcohol. The purpose is not to stop boaters from enjoying a beer, wine cooler or drink, Detroit Sector Lt. Justin Westmiller said Wednesday.

    EAST LANSING Students at Michigan State University will pay 3.5% more in tuition next year, the Board of Trustees decided Friday. That means $210 more per semester for in-state undergraduates.
