Vince answered questions about the draft, free agency and more this morning.
The Pistons worked out six frontcourt prospects Monday in preparation for Thursday's NBA draft. John Henson, North Carolina: The skinny big man has been projected by many to be the pick at No. 9 for the Pistons. He'll help defensively, but he'll have to bulk up to bang in the NBA.
Bird, who is dealing with some health issues (back and shoulder), likely will take a year off before deciding if he wants to return to any sort of front-office position.
A recent story about Lions players making the list of the NFL's biggest jerks got us thinking: What players would make the Detroit sports fan's list of biggest jerks in sports?
Howard also said, "We won this ring for the Michigan Fab Five."
It's likely George David, the Pistons' director of player personnel, will be promoted into Perry's old position with the franchise.
Several high-profile draft prospects will work out today at the Pistons' practice facility in Auburn Hills. The Pistons, who have the No. 9 pick in Thursday's NBA draft, will take a look at Ohio State's Jared Sullinger, Illinois' Meyers Leonard, North Carolina's John Henson and Tyler Zeller, Baylor's Perry Jones and Kentucky's Terrence Jones.
We discussed the serious matter of Detroit sports this afternoon.
Welcome to our two-minute drill, which will give you a snapshot of what's going on with the Lions, Tigers, Red Wings, Pistons, Spartans and Wolverines each day.
He won. That's all that matters. The debate over LeBron James may go on. But sports is a did-or-didn't business, and when Miami captured the NBA title Thursday, LeBron stepped over. This explains why the same fans, critics and sports media who just TWO WEEKS AGO were saying LeBron lacked heart or big shot desire are now bowing to his sunrise.
Each week, Steve Schrader hands out "Stevies" to the best, the worst and the weirdest from the week that was in sports. This week's Stevies:

Free Press sports writer Vince Ellis takes a look at whom the Pistons could draft at No. 9 in Thursday's 2012 NBA draft:
Here's how Vince Ellis thinks the first round of the NBA draft will shake out Thursday:
This is Day 6 of the Tigers' string of 20 games in 20 days, leading up to the All-Star break, and Justin Verlander's last chance for a while to get his first career hit as the Tigers play at Pittsburgh. It's also a chance for him to get even for the Pirates' breaking up his no-hitter in the ninth inning back in May. 1:30 p.m., FSD.
Charlie Villanueva spent last weekend in Toronto for his son's birthday but was dealing with reports that he was cut from the Dominican Republic national team. The fact that he was cut wasn't the issue -- the problem was the way it was reported.
Community service Pistons guard Brandon Knight took time away from his summer conditioning program Saturday morning to help volunteers build a playground at the Commonwealth Community Development Academy in Detroit.
After all this time, you can finally celebrate LeBron James' first NBA title with the Miami Heat, eh? There are all sorts of souvenirs at NBA.com, including the LeBron bobblehead -- which also took its talents to South Beach -- holding a championship trophy for $24.99.
LeBron James is back on Twitter, and the Miami Heat star has more followers than ever. The newly crowned NBA champion and NBA Finals MVP ended a nearly two-month break from social media early Friday, posting a 50-second video to thank fans for both their support and their patience.
Ron Rothstein is a trivia question in Pistons history. Who was the coach who took over in Detroit after the legendary Chuck Daly resigned as the most successful coach in Pistons history? It was Rothstein, who could be seen celebrating on the bench Thursday night after the Miami Heat eliminated Oklahoma City, 4-1, to win the NBA title.
Even after 21 years, the bond appears as tight as ever. As 39-year-old Juwan Howard was hugging teammates and coaches in the Miami Heat locker room Thursday night, he saved a special embrace for former Fab Five teammate Jalen Rose. Two decades after the Fab Five assembled as a transcendent freshman college basketball class at Michigan, they finally had a major championship to celebrate.
Oddsmakers at Bovada have Detroit listed at 200-1, tying the Charlotte Bobcats -- a team that finished with the worst winning percentage in league history -- for the worst odds.
Five notable players with Michigan prep, college or pro ties have won NCAA and NBA titles. They are: Magic Johnson Led Michigan State to the 1979 NCAA title and won five NBA rings (1980, '82, '85, '87 and '88) with the L.A. Lakers. Isiah Thomas
A year ago, with an easier path, the Miami Heat fell short of its championship goal. This time, things seemed much tougher to the Heat -- which made the reward that much sweeter.
HONORS The Michigan Sports Hall of Fame formally will enshrine the latest class of athletes and sports figures at the 56th Induction Event on Aug. 16 at the Gem Theatre in Detroit.
The Fab Five finally have a major basketball title to celebrate. Juwan Howard, a forward in U-M’s heralded freshman class of 1991, won his first crown on Thursday night when the Miami Heat captured the NBA title.
Score a victory for the Pistons -- albeit a small one. This year's NBA Finals, which ended Thursday with the Heat's 121-106 victory over the Thunder, drew the highest five-game ratings average since 2004, when the Pistons beat the Lakers in five.
With less than a week before the NBA draft, the biggest question remains Ohio State power forward Jared Sullinger.
North Carolina's Harrison Barnes worked out for the Charlotte Bobcats on Thursday morning, and new coach Mike Dunlap said he was impressed with the prospect.
LeBron James is a world champion, and the Miami Heat have climbed to the top of NBA.
The adolescent petulance toward LeBron James won't cease. It'll simply seek another outlet should he secure that first NBA championship in the coming days.
Can't play because of cramps? Don't tell that to hockey players.
We're a week away from the NBA draft, so it's a good time to take a sweep through the Internet for mock drafts.
"Nice take," Jonas Jerebko yelled Wednesday morning at Rochester Adams High as he jogged with a referee's whistle dangling from his neck. He officiated a pickup game at his first basketball camp, which concludes today.
With all the rich history among the Tigers, Red Wings, Lions and Pistons, there's not as much Detroit love throughout the 100 listed.
Welcome to our two-minute drill, which will give you a snapshot of what's going on with the Lions, Tigers, Red Wings, Pistons, Spartans and Wolverines each day.
Down 3-1 in the NBA Finals, history says the Oklahoma City Thunder aren't coming back. Nobody has rallied from that deficit in the Finals. T
Can the Thunder come back from 3-1? No NBA Finals team has done it. Here's a look at the past five 3-1 Finals leads:

Through four games, the NBA Finals are averaging an 11.6 overnight rating, the highest since the 2004 series between the Detroit Pistons and Los Angeles Lakers.
