    Bing to announce plan to demolish another 1,500 abandoned buildings in Detroit

    He's scheduled to discuss the 90-day campaign at 2 p.m. at the site of home that's to be demolished on Coram, between Hayes and Brock, near Denby High School, according to a release issued by his spokeswoman, Naomi Patton, this morning.     Local and federal law enforcement officials arrested 70 people and recovered six teens during a three-day crackdown on child prostitution. The effort was part of a national initiative dubbed Operation Cross Country, in which local, state and federal law enforcement officers set out to arrest pimps and rescue children forced into the sex trade, FBI spokesman Simon Shaykhet said Monday.

    Flint man sentenced to life for stabbing

    A man accused of stabbing several men in the Flint area two years ago was sentenced Monday to life in prison for one of the murders. Elias Abuelazam was found guilty last month after a three-week jury trial of killing 49-year-old Arnold Minor on Aug. 2, 2010.

    For the second time in five months, Bob Bashara has been accused of trying to hire a hit man. He was first suspected of hiring Joe Gentz to strangle his wife, Jane Bashara, in January. Now, Bob Bashara is accused of trying to hire a hit man to kill Gentz in jail, a source familiar with the investigation told the Free Press. Bashara's attorney said he's bewildered by the accusation.

    Gavin Matthew Enright was fleeing police at 3:10 a.m. when he crashed on the entrance ramp to eastbound I-94 from westbound 16 Mile Road in Harrison Township, according to the Macomb County Sheriff’s Office. His passenger, 21-year-old Donald Larrell Smelser-Emerson, died in the crash.
