    Honda is limiting exports to the U.S. of some Japan-made cars because it's losing money on them, Honda Chief Financial Officer Fumihiko Ike told Automotive News. The trade journal said this is the first admission by a Japanese car company that it's losing money on exports to the U.S. The issue is the dollar's weakness vs. the yen, which cuts the value of a U.S. sale.

    Honda Fit EV's efficiency is costly

    At an equivalent of 118 m.p.g., the electric Honda Fit is the most fuel-efficient vehicle in the U.S. But getting that mileage isn't cheap. Honda announced the eye-popping figure Wednesday, making the small, four-door hatchback more efficient than electric rivals like the Ford Focus, Nissan Leaf and Mitsubishi i-MiEV.     Remembering the brutal struggle that the union went through in its early years is important as the UAW fights to rebuild from its recent membership losses, UAW President Bernie Ricke said. On May 26, 1937, Walter Reuther and other labor leaders went to the overpass at the Ford Rouge complex in Dearborn that connected the front entrance to Miller Road as they were trying to unionize the company. What ensued was a savage beating that turned public opinion in the UAW's favor.
