LIES IN THE PULPIT; THE GREAT APOSTASY
"A dog barks when his master is attacked. I would be a coward if I saw that God's truth is attacked and yet would remain silent."
John Calvin
Today at church we had a guest speaker named Dr. Michael Bradley who started GODSOM (Global On Demand School of Ministry). I have no doubt that the graduates have good hearts and will do well in the world helping others. And I sincerely believe that they learned while attending that institution. I sincerely believe that my Pastor and the First Lady have a strong anointing to teach and show the power of God.
However I am going to be very clear about this, Dr. Bradley LIED on the WORD of God as given in the Holy Bible. Look, I am no expert in anything. The more I learn the more I realize how little I know. After all how can you grasp infinity? But one of the things that all Christians are charged to do is to examine the WORD of God as given in the Bible. We are told to meditate on its precepts and study it. And the Word is the sword of the Spirit accourding to Paul in Ephesians 6:17 (KJV) And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God.
The relevant scriptures on meditating on the WORD are below:
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Joshua 1:8 (KJV) This Book of the Law shall not depart from your mouth, but you shall meditate in it day and night, that you may observe to do according to all that is written in it. For then you will make your way prosperous, and then you will have good success.
Psalm 1:2 (KJV) But his delight is in the law of the Lord; and in his law doth he meditate day and night.
Psalm 19:14 (KJV) Let the words of my mouth, and the meditation of my heart, be acceptable in thy sight, O Lord, my strength, and my redeemer.
Psalm 119:15 (KJV) I will meditate in thy precepts, and have respect unto thy ways.
Psalm 119:99 (KJV) I have more understanding than all my teachers: for thy testimonies are my meditation.
Sirach/Ecclesisasticus 38:6. (REB) The Lord has imparted knowledge to mortals, that by their use of his marvels he may win praise.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
So not only doe the WORD tell us that we ought to study it and meditate on it, but Sirarch even tells us that God gave us a brain such that we can process knowledge and in so doing give God the praise that he is due!
Now let me get to the meat of the matter. I take notes at church and my notes today bothered me so much that I was afraid that I misquoted Dr. Bradley. Thus, I went straight to the horses mouth, on Facebook tonight, and asked him about the content of his sermon today. Here is the chain. See below:

Hi Dr. Bradley I was at the service today at Seed of Joy Worship Centre in Modesto and wanted to ask you a few questions about your sermon.
I took notes and wanted clarification on what you said:
1.That Mary meditated/pondered a seed in her heart after hearing a word from an angel and that is how Jesus was born.
2.That 'religions' teach that God created Jesus but Mary created Jesus through aforementioned pondering.
3.That God needs our help on Earth to do his will.
4.That there are different forms of meditation and among them are
reguritating the word like an animal that chews cud, to bring it up over and over again.5.That muttering the word is another form of meditation.
6.That meditation leads to revelation leads to manifestation.
7.I want to make sure that I wrote down what you said as accurately as
possible. Please correct me if I misquoted anything you said and if possible provide scriptural justifications.Thank you,
Mahndisa S. Rigmaiden Davis

Thank you for the confirmation.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I tell you the truth: Dr. Bradley ought to know better! He is perpetuating heresies that are wholly and totally inconsistent with the WORD of God. To show what I'm talking about, I will point out scripture to refute the points he made except #6, which is true.
1-2. These are boldfaced lies! In Matthew 1:18-21 it very clearly states that the Holy Spirit was responsible for Marys' pregnancy. It says nothing about her meditating on the word of an angel and getting pregnant due to said pondering. In Luke 1:34-38 the story is elaborated a little more and Mary asks the angel how she will have a child since she is a virgin and he tells her very clearly that the Holy Spirit will come upon her and that is how she will conceive Jesus.
Furthermore, in John 1:14 we see that Jesus has been around since the dawn of time as the Word! He is the Word made flesh and came down from Heaven to show us how to act as God wants us to act and to act as the Great Propitiator for our sins!
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Matthew 1:18-21 (NLT) 18This is how Jesus the Messiah was born. His mother, Mary, was engaged to be married to Joseph. But before the marriage took place, while she was still a virgin, she became pregnant through the power of the Holy Spirit. 19Joseph, her fiancé, was a good man and did not want to disgrace her publicly, so he decided to break the engagementh quietly. 20As he considered this, an angel of the Lord appeared to him in a dream. “Joseph, son of David,” the angel said, “do not be afraid to take Mary as your wife. For the child within her was conceived by the Holy Spirit. 21And she will have a son, and you are to name him Jesus,i for he will save his people from their sins.”
Luke 1:34-38 (NLT) 34 Mary asked the angel, “But how can this happen? I am a virgin.”35 The angel replied, “The Holy Spirit will come upon you, and the power of the Most High will overshadow you. So the baby to be born will be holy, and he will be called the Son of God. 36 What’s more, your relative Elizabeth has become pregnant in her old age! People used to say she was barren, but she has conceived a son and is now in her sixth month. 37 For nothing is impossible with God.[f]”38 Mary responded, “I am the Lord’s servant. May everything you have said about me come true.” And then the angel left her.
John 1:14 (KJV) And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
3. God does NOT need our help to do his will. God may appoint people to carry out specific tasks but through him anything is possible. He created the universe/multiverse he can do whatever he wants whenever he wants. We see this in Luke 1:37 where the angel Gabriel says that nothing is impssible for God! We see that he created the universe in Genesis 1:1-5. He didn't need mans help to do that did he? In John 1:1-3 we quite clearly see that everything was made by God nothing was created unless he was responsible!
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Genesis 1:1-5 (KJV) 1In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth. 2And the earth was without form, and void; and darkness was upon the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters. 3And God said, Let there be light: and there was light. 4And God saw the light, that it was good: and God divided the light from the darkness. 5And God called the light Day, and the darkness he called Night. And the evening and the morning were the first day.
Luke 1:37 (KJV) 37 For nothing is impossible with God.
John 1:1-3 (NLT) 1 In the beginning the Word already existed. The Word was with God, and the Word was God. 2 He existed in the beginning with God. 3 God created everything through him, and nothing was created except through him.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
4.This is also incorrect because of the words used in Psalms to describe meditation on the WORD from Biblical Hebrew which is 'haggaion'. It is generally accepted that there are two meanings, one is that mediatation means to think and to reflect while the other is contentious due to loss of nuance of meaning over time. However most believe it refers to a technical term related to music, whether an interlude or the literal soft murmuring of the harp. See below:
Easton's Bible Dictionary
in Ps. 92:3 means the murmuring tone of the harp. In Ps. 9:16 it is a musical sign, denoting probably a pause in the instrumental interlude. In Ps. 19:14 the word is rendered "meditation;" and in Lam. 3:62, "device" (R.V., "imagination").
Smith's Bible Dictionary
(meditation), a word which occurs three times in the book of Psalms- (Psalms 9:16; 19:14; 92:3) (margin). The word has two meanings, one of a general character, implying thought; reflection, and another, in (Psalms 9:16) and Psal 92:3 Of a technical nature, the precise meaning of which cannot at this distance of time be determined. (Canon Cook says that it probably means an interlude giving musical expression to the feelings suggested by the preceding words.-ED.)
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
So whether we look at both definitions of the words meditate, in the case of meditating on the WORD, from other scriptures it is clear that we are to deeply reflect and internalize the WORD and hold it close and dear to our hearts, souls and spirits. Now let's look at the definition of the word regurgitate:
re·gur·gi·tate (taken from Dictionary.com)
[ri-gur-ji-teyt] Show IPA verb, re·gur·gi·tat·ed, re·gur·gi·tat·ing.
verb (used without object)
1. to surge or rush back, as liquids, gases, undigested food, etc.
verb (used with object)
2. to cause to surge or rush back; vomit.
3. to give back or repeat, especially something not fully understood or assimilated: to regurgitate the teacher's lectures on the exam.
If we consider definition 3 and apply it to our understanding of the WORD, that is not good is it? We should internalize what we are learning, not simply learn by rote as the third defintion would suggest.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The only thing I can think of is that perhaps Dr. Bradley meant ruminate instead of regurgitate, for rumination has a meaning more in line with Biblical meditation. Taken from the Merriam Webster Dictionary online:
ru·mi·nate
verb \ˈrü-mə-ˌnāt\
ru·mi·nat·edru·mi·nat·ing
Definition of RUMINATE
transitive verb
1 to go over in the mind repeatedly and often casually or slowly
2 to chew repeatedly for an extended period
intransitive verb
1 to chew again what has been chewed slightly and swallowed : chew the cud
2 to engage in contemplation : reflect
So ruminate as transitive verb definition 1 or intransitive verb defnition 2 would be applicable to Biblical meditation. However this is not what Dr. Bradley said, nor did he correct me in our Facebook correspondence.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
5.Muttering the WORD is an offense to the WORD iteself. Here is the defintion of mutter, taken from the Merriam Webster Dictionary online:
mut·ter
verb \ˈmə-tər\
Definition of MUTTER
intransitive verb
1 to utter sounds or words indistinctly or with a low voice and with the lips partly closed
2 to murmur complainingly or angrily : grumble
transitive verb
to utter especially in a low or imperfectly articulated manner
If we look at definitintion 2 of the intransitive verb and then the definition of the transitive verb, we see that muttering the WORD means that we are angrily complaining or uttering something in an inarticulate way. If we look at the first definition of the intransitive verb we see that uttering the WORD indistinctly and with a low voice is not accurately pronouncing the WORD. One of the synonyms for mutter is BABBLE. And the WORD is very clear about babbling:
Matthew 6:7 (NLT) “When you pray, don’t babble on and on as people of other religions do. They think their prayers are answered merely by repeating their words again and again."
Clearly muttering the WORD is an affront to the WORD and therefore to GOD himself.
Every single point that Dr. Bradley said above is not scripturally justified and casts a negative light on the nature of meditating on the WORD. The only thing that we can agree upon is point 6, which is that meditating on the WORD can lead to revelation which can lead to manifestation of Gods will.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I have told you no lies nor misquoted Dr. Bradley. He cosigned on my transcription of his sermon today. Therefore I think something is terribly wrong. There must be self consistency in any framework of knowledge and I think you'd all agree that the Bible is a book of knowledge.
