    Spellman’s attorney, David Phillips, did not immediately return a call seeking comment but has said Spellman has a mental illness. Spellman played for the Chicago Bears, the Dallas Cowboys and the Lions, finishing his NFL career with Detroit in 2001. He had three tackles and one sack in five games for the Lions.
