Leap into Action-Shut Down the Corporations #F29
Stop ALEC-where Phizer Writes Legislation against Humanity and Nature

Providence- Occupy Providence has answered Occupy Portland’s (Oregon) nationwide call to action on February 29th to shut down corporations that are members of the American Legislative Exchange Council (ALEC). Joining occupy groups from around NEW ENGLAND, they will target Phizer, an ALEC Corporate Board member company with significant operations in Connecticut.

Members of Occupy Providence will travel to Eastern Point Beach Park -2 Rita Santacroce- Groton, CT 06340 starting at 8AMfor a full day of protest, street theater, puppetry, teach-ins, speakers, music, food, and more than a few fun surprises WHERE local community activists, Occupy members, human and animal rights activists, and more for a day of action down by the Thames.

ALEC that has modeled hideous anti-consumer protection laws, anti-democracy voter suppression laws and even disinformation programs about global warming. Where do we begin on Pfizer? They have poisoned the Earth and used our bodies as test subjects. They were behind deadly clinical trials in several countries, testing and all around cruelty towards animals, while at the same time spending tens of millions of dollars of lobbying against health care reform.

Pfizer feels it is their right to control our government with money, have their interests held above the interests of the people. Now it is our time to show them we want our cities, our state, and our country back. Plans are being made to show Pfizer we are no longer silent, and refuse to allow their horrors to continue any longer.

“There has been a theft by the 1% of our democratic ability to shape and form the society in which we live and our society is steered toward the destructive pursuit of consumption, profit and greed at the expense of all else. We call on people to target corporations that are part of the American Legislative Exchange Council which is a prime example of the way corporations buy off legislators and craft legislation that serves the interests of corporations and not people. They used it to create the anti-labor legislation in Wisconsin and the racist bill SB 1070 in Arizona among so many others. They use ALEC to spread these corporate laws around the country.” -Occupy Portland General Assembly
