Why does Bush hate the military?
Now we're all racists, too
President Bush said yesterday that people who have skin that is "a different color than white" are capable of self-government.It's been a busy week for the Bush attack machine. First, Karen Hughes compares pro-choicers to terrorists. Now Bush says anyone who questions his lack of a plan for the Iraq transition is a racist. Of course, this shouldn't surprise us. This is an administration that prides itself on questioning the integrity of anyone who asks a free-thinking question (Ashcroft and Ari Fleischer: Watch your questions, Congress and the media, or you're aiding and abetting the enemy). Oh, and it gets better:
Bush made the comment during a Rose Garden news conference, while discussing his goal of more freedom in the Middle East.
"There's a lot of people in the world who don't believe that people whose skin color may not be the same as ours can be free and self-govern," Bush said.
"I reject that. I reject that strongly. I believe that people who practice the Muslim faith can self-govern. I believe that people whose skins aren't necessarily -- are a different color than white can self-govern." - Washington Post
"Bush never says who the people are who think that, and McClellan did not, either.Ok, I want names. Who thinks that? If Bush can demand Kerry name names of foreign leaders who support him, then I want names of these supposed people who question Bush's plan on the transfer of power in Iraq because they're racist. Brent Bozell, president of the Media Research Center, derided what he called the program's 'partisan nature,' saying it's one goal was 'to turn public opinion against the war.'" - APAs a journalist myself, I can appreciate the urge to be lazy sometimes, but geez. Calling Brent Bozell "some observers" is like calling Rush Limbaugh an impartial source. Bozell is more than an "observer" - he's a conservative Republican partisan activist hack. Now, don't get me wrong. Bozell has the right to be a far-right nut. But spare us the "some observers" crap, insinuating that what follows is an impartial, or at least reasonable, source that thinks ABC is up to something. Read the rest of this post...
