Checking in from Paris

Hey gang, I've only JUST gotten Internet access since I arrived in France on Tuesday, and MAN, I think I've created a monster (or 3) with all the posts from Michael, Rob and David. :-) Actually, I'm quite glad to see that they've been happily posting while I've been away, and hope that they'll continue at such a great pace until I get back next Wednesday night (I'll only be checking in occasionally each day between now and then).

As for me, I have NO IDEA what the hell has been happening in the news - some governor resigned, there's a gay angle? - who knew? Need to do a quick read of my own blog before I can weigh in on anything. But I can say that the French REALLY hate Bush. I bought two "Kerry/Edwards" t-shirts for Chris in Paris and his wife, and a t-shirt for myself of Bush as Linus from Peanuts with his "war on terror" security blanket - and all 3 of us went tooling around Monaco with them on.

Well, we were quite the hit with the French, assorted other foreigners, and the American ex-pat community. Hint to all of you: Going to Europe any time between now and the election? Bring some anti-Bush and/or Kerry clothes, buttons, etc. and folks will LOVE you.

Anyway, it's midnight here Saturday night in Paris, so I'm gonna do a quick read of the news then head to bed. Enjoy a little photo I took Tuesday night of a fireworks display that they were holding in the sea just off of Monaco - it's at the top of this blog entry. If you hate me now, wait till you hear this - the photo was taken from the window of my bedroom in my friend's apartment! Yes, that's the view I went to bed to, and woke up to, every morning. France been bery bery good to John.

More later. JOHN Read the rest of this post...

A judge blocked a Sept. 18 vote on a constitutional ban on same-sex marriages Friday, but suspended his order so the state can appeal directly to the Louisiana Supreme Court.

On again, off again.
