Hillary hits back at DOD official who claimed that talk of withdrawal from Iraq emboldens the enemy

This was from Friday, but still good news. This Edelman character, who sounds like he'd be happier living in the Soviet Union where good citizens don't question Big Brother, should be fired. Read the rest of this post...

Oh, so the US has a shortage of medical doctors, just like UK

View Comments | Reddit | Tumblr | Digg | FARK
So does this mean for the Faux News stories about "nationalized health care equals terrorist breading grounds" will be updated? It sounds like the brilliant US health care system that is in place today is not much different from the system in the UK that was being attacked because there have been doctor shortages which were - according to Fox - encouraging sneaky terrorists to slip into the country as bureaucrats struggled to locate new doctors. Obviously both countries try their best to screen new entrants into the country, but the problem of shortages is no different, maybe even worse in the US. Something tells me that Faux News won't be updating their viewers on this story. Read the rest of this post...

Why does uber-conservative Bill Kristol have a problem with US troops and Reagan voters?

View Comments | Reddit | Tumblr | Digg | FARK
That's pretty much what he said this morning on Faux News when talking about DailyKos founder Markos Molitsas. Kristol said that Markos was not a respectable person prior to founding DailyKos 3 or 4 years ago.

With all due respect, Mr. Kristol, prior to founding DailyKos, Markos was serving in the US military and voting for Ronald Reagan.

Then again, they don't call it Faux News for nothing. Read the rest of this post...

Code Pink greeted me at CNN this morning

Gotta give these ladies credit, they were at CNN bright and early this morning to greet the guests - who included members of Congress AND the deputy prime minister of Iraq - with a big bright anti-war message.

Sunday Talk Shows Open Thread

View Comments | Reddit | Tumblr | Digg | FARK
An amazing development today. There are actually Democrats on all the shows -- even FOX (but there's no ABC show this week. They're doing golf instead.)

Bush has sent his top security staffers to assuage our concerns about the reconstituted Al Qaeda -- the very terror network Bush repeatedly vowed to destroy. So, terror and Iraq will dominate the shows. Those issues are intertwined now -- weren't in 2001 and 2002. But, thanks to Bush, Iraq is feeding terrorism. Heckuva job Bushie.

The Washington Post has the line up:
FOX NEWS SUNDAY...: Frances Fragos Townsend, White House homeland security adviser; Sens. Christopher S. Bond (R-Mo.) and Evan Bayh (D-Ind.); and industrialist Richard Branson.

NEWSMAKERS (C-SPAN), 10 a.m.[EST]: Rep. Chris Van Hollen (D-Md.).

FACE THE NATION (CBS...: Sens. Harry M. Reid (D-Nev.) and Olympia J. Snowe (R-Maine).

MEET THE PRESS (NBC....: Director of National Intelligence Mike McConnell and Sen. Russell Feingold (D-Wis.).

LATE EDITION (CNN), 11 a.m.[EST]: Townsend; Sens. Richard J. Durbin (D-Ill.) and Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.); Rep. Artur Davis (D-Ala.); former Iowa governor Tom Vilsack (D); Pakistani Foreign Minister Khurshid Mahmud Kasuri; Iraqi Deputy Prime Minister Barham Salih; and David E. Bonior, campaign manager for former senator John Edwards (D-N.C.).
There should be plenty of fodder from the shows. Have at it. Read the rest of this post...

Shocking new discovery by the AP!

Who ever would have guessed that China is not the only food source problem country? Don't they know China should be blamed for everything so we can properly demonize the country for the root of all problems?
China, already under suspicion as the source of tainted toothpaste, contaminated fish and toxic medicine, had the largest number of violations in the past 12 months, with the U.S. Food and Drug Administration rejecting 1,901 shipments of food or cosmetics. But India and Mexico weren’t far behind, with inspectors rejecting 1,787 and 1,560 shipments, respectively.
Not to worry though because Bush has created a special new task force to save America! Hooray! So the team that has helped build the current problem of tainted food coming into the US and lax regulations inside the US will now put together a master plan to solve the problem. This ought to be interesting since there is such a track record of success and keen interest in problem solving. Rest comfortably America, Team GOP is on the job. Read the rest of this post...

$7 billion lawsuit against Pfizer in Nigeria re-filed

View Comments | Reddit | Tumblr | Digg | FARK
The initial lawsuit has been updated and re-filed. Another revolting moment for Big Pharma, if proven to be true in court.
Government lawyers filed a new $7 billion civil lawsuit Friday against Pfizer Inc., adding a more serious fraud charge to their allegations that the U.S. drug maker did not properly obtain consent from families while testing an experimental drug on their children.

The government has accused Pfizer of taking advantage of a 1996 meningitis epidemic to test an experimental drug without authorization or the full understanding of the families involved — allegedly contributing to the deaths of some of the children and sickening others. Pfizer denies wrongdoing.
