Bush attacks Democrats over bill he hasn't even seen

Classic Bush. Never, ever lets facts get in the way. Today, Bush attacked Democrats over a bill he hasn't even seen:
“Although the Administration has not seen the legislation, according to press reports it would include $18 billion in additional domestic and emergency spending above the president’s budget,” Nussle said. “When added to emergency domestic spending Congress already included in the Defense Appropriations bill, this so-called compromise would result in more excess spending than even the Democrats’ original budget included.”
Haven't seen it, but that doesn't stop the Bush team. Hill Dems. blasted back:
In a joint statement, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) and Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.) blasted the White House statement.

“Although he admits he has not even seen the bipartisan legislation that would fund critical priorities such as border security, homeland security, and putting more police officers on the street, the president has recklessly threatened to veto it,” the Democratic leaders said. “For a President already lacking in credibility, it is dangerous to issue veto threats based on press reports alone.”
This is all fun and games for Bush. After all, he invaded Iraq and started an endless war without any facts. Read the rest of this post...

GOP program to destroy FDA is on track

The results are in and no surprises here.
Lives are at risk because the U.S. Food and Drug Administration is woefully behind in the latest scientific advances and is underfunded for its vast responsibilities, an expert panel will tell the FDA on Monday.

In a 56-page report titled "FDA Science and Mission at Risk," which has been posted online, officials will hear that inadequate staffing and poor retention, out-of-date technology and a general lack of resources mar the agency's ability to do its job.

The FDA regulates products ranging from pharmaceuticals and medical devices to food and cosmetics, representing about $1 trillion, or a quarter of every dollar spent in the U.S.

The FDA's chief commissioned the report to assess whether its scientific expertise can support its regulatory mission.

"FDA's inability to keep up with scientific advances means that American lives are at risk," said the report, written by a subcommittee to the Science Board, an expert advisory group.

It's Oprahpalooza weekend for Obama

View Comments | Reddit | Tumblr | Digg | FARK
Oprah is campaigning with him all weekend. This should be big. If Obama gets the nomination, the Dem party powers-that-be are going to need to have a talk with him about his staff. Say what you will about Hillary, but her staff is full of sword-wielding ninjas who don't take crap from anyone. Pair Hillary's ninjas with Obama's likability and you'd have one hell of a partnership. Read the rest of this post...

Paulson says everything is fine

Right. So with the dollar experiencing some of the worst times since the early 1970s, an economy who again failed to even keep up with incoming new workers, a very costly war and the looming banking problems, it's just dreamy. Hope runs eternal for this knucklehead. How many regular folks out there really think they are better off during the Bush years compared to the Clinton years? Show of hands, anyone? If this is what Paulson and Bush think are "good times" I would hate to see what they consider rough times. Read the rest of this post...
