Thursday Concerts at Discovery Green

KPFT is co-sponsoring the Green Mountain Energy Thursday Concerts at Discovery Green this fall, featuring FREE concerts showcasing outstanding regional performers at Discovery Green on Thursdays in September and October, starting September 13th and running through October 25th!

This week’s concert features thundering soul and Americana rock and roll on Thursday, September 20! Enjoy Grandfather Child’s genre-bending approach to music and performance and Folk Family Revival’s blend of rock, folk, bluegrass and country music for a unique Texas sound.

Show starts at 6:30. Everyone is welcome. Most street parking is free starting at 6. Bring your picnics, blankets, and lawn chairs, but leave your glass containers and alcohol at home. Rock Out With KPFT Once More

September 21-23 the City of League City’s first-ever Boogie Blues & Brews Festival rolls into town. The event will be located on the grounds of 86-acre Walter Hall Park, in beautiful League City, Texas, 807 Hwy 3 N, League City, TX 77573. Dates & Times: Friday September 21, 6-10 pm; Saturday September 22, Noon-10 pm; Sunday September 23, Noon-6 pm

What is it? It's three fun-filled days of blues, rock, zydeco, and rockabilly. A Children’s Festival within the festival will feature a children’s stage, teen cafe, and a multitude of children activities to keep the excitement meter on high. The festival grounds will include a huge arts and crafts market with shopping and promotional opportunities, fun festival foods in the food court, with specialty food kiosks throughout the park.

Online Signature Drive is Now Live

Nominate the prospective candidate(s) that you feel should run in the 2012 KPFT Election. It's simple and easy.

You can read the candidate statements and select those whom you'd like to nominate to run in the 2012 election. Remember that Listener-members can only nominate Listener-members and Staff-members(unpaid and paid) can only nominate Staff-members. Just follow the link below.

Round two of the nomination signature period is now over, but you can still endorse the nominations of your choice- nominees from both round one and round two are now live at the link below.

Are you struggling to get the 15 signatures needed for you to become a candidate on the 2012 KPFT election ballot? These TWO EVENTS will help you out:

ONLINE Signature DRIVE. Register by 9am August 27 and you will be included in KPFTs online signature drive. How does it work? KPFT members will nominate perspective candidates to be on the ballot by reviewing the candidate statements online here at KPFT. The event will start at noon on August 27 and end at 5pm on August 30.

If you register after the deadline, you can participate the in person SIGNATURE Party on Wednesday August 29 from 6pm to 9pm at KPFT.

The Deadline for submitting nominating petitions and candidate statements to run in the Local Station Board election is AUGUST 30, 2012.

Do You Qualify to Run?

July 30, 2012

Half of the 24 Local Station Board seats are up for election. Nine (9) Listener-Sponsored Board seats and three (3) Staff-Sponsored Board seats.

To qualify to run as a Listener-Sponsored Candidate you must be at least one of the following:

A subscriber who has contributed at least $25 to KPFT between September 1, 2011 and September 1, 2012.
A volunteer who has completed 3 or more verifiable volunteer hours at KPFT between September 1, 2011 and September 1, 2012.

To qualify to run as a Staff-Sponsored Candidate you must be at least one of the following:

A paid staff member (non-management full-time or part-time) on the payroll.
An unpaid volunteer staff member who has volunteered at least 30 hours from June 1, 2012 to September 1, 2012. This excludes volunteer time associated with pledge drives as well as volunteer work on committees of the Local Station Board. Volunteer hours must be performed under the supervision of the KPFT Station management.

KPFT's Local Station Board Election Process is Starting Up

National Election Supervisor Terry Bouricius has appointed Iyobosa Irabor as the 2012 KPFT Local Election Supervisor.

Iyo Irabor is a graduate of the University of Michigan and holds a BA in Political Science. She is a project management consultant with a background in international development, communications and community development. As Local Election Supervisor Iyo will oversee the candidate nomination process, as well as the implementation of Pacifica's Fair Campaign Provisions.
