It is nice to see that there is a state inquiry that has cast a shadow of doubt over the reliability of these voting machines. It certainly makes the officials in Ohio that say they still "trust" the machines all the more suspicious, especially in light of new revelations about the $10,000 bribe that a Hocking County Official took from Diebold. There is no end in sight for this scandal, as it is sure to implicate many more, especially if the Attorney General in Ohio decides to comply with a Supreme Court Ruling on the documents relating to the Tom Noe investigation. The truth will set us free.

Jim March of Black Box Voting, is part of the success of this event.
He and Bev Harris work hard and get a lot done and are participants in Velvet Revolution, as this Blog is.
Jim was recently jailed and charged with a felony while upholding his civil rights (and those of others) in voting matters in California.

Only a 10% failure rate, no problem, I've got a mandate.
Should/could this be used against Blackwell to PROVE the reliability of Ohio's machines before the next election?

10% failure rate and that's not even during an actual election where the machines would presumably be used even more harshly. You would have to be a complete moron to allow 10% failure rate in anything especially something so important as your vote. The problem is that even if the residents of Ohio wanted to put a resolution on the ballot to stop using the voting machines, they have to use the voting machines to do that!!!
So once you got em, you are stuck with them unless your elected official decides to do away with them and since it was the machines that got these people in power in the first place, it's not very likely we will see those people in power get rid of them.

There has to be some kind-hearted rich people who could back television advertisements in Ohio calling for reform.
We should stop trying to address the partisan crooks in Ohio and take this straight to the voters. Door-to-door, on TV, and letters to all the newspapers... we can't wait until another election.

Go Brad. Let's not forget Ray Lemme, Clint Curtis. Bradblog was the first that made me believe in the power of blogs. Seeing in real time the horror of Mr Lemme's death, bloggers (Kira and others) throwing out ideas, then documenting them.
Hopes of seeing Mr Lemme's death and the election fraud in Florida exposed, then ignored, then not, then semi-ignored.
I get distracted from Diebold= fraud etc. because there is just so much delicious scum leaking from the neo-con shit bag.
Thanks for listening. Too many Friday after work whatevers.
I love this blog.

Hello everyone...long time since I have visited...we have been busy in Carteret County...we formed a non-partisan coalition for verifiable voting and inundated our Senators with phone calls, emails and faxes...
Check out our "reality" video. I must give credit to Joyce McCloy and Justin Moore (and his brother) for helping us pull this off and for the editing and "creation" of the video.

The Brad bloggers have written a lot about what are the most important issues facing us today. I agree with many that number one is voter fraud. All national policies are born after the vote count.
However, I think the second big issue is assassinations. I lived through the 1960s when our best leaders were murdered by right-wing assasins. JFK, RFK and MLK were eliminated by an organized group that wanted to control the ideology of those who lead this country. I believe that the neocons would not hesitate to eliminate other such threats. There are too many people having "accidents" when they get close to some truth. The neocons will not relinquish their power without a titanic struggle. They have declared war on progressives believing that we will take money out of their pockets.
I am hoping that those who oppose this neocon force are watching their back. Be safe Mr. Fitzgerald.

Add this guy to Lemme,Gary Webb,Hunter S Thompson etc. You guys don't do things by halfs, even when you commit suicide ,maybe to many episodes of the "X-files" of something.
IT WAS MURDER NOT SUICIDE
Shue, a well-respected USAF psychiatrist, had been found dead in a car wreck in Boerne, Tex. April 16, 2003, his body surgically mutilated and strands of torn duct tape hanging from his wrists and boots. The colonels courageous widow, former Air Force nurse Tracy Shue, knew this was a case of foul play, but top officials from controversial Bexar County Medical Examiner Vincent DiMaio, District Attorney Bruce Curry, to the ever-obnoxious leader of the Lackland AFB branch of the Office of Special Investigations, (OSI) rushed to pin the suicide label on the mysterious death. Why such haste?

This isd a big first step. Now we must see to it that laws are on the books calling for open source software and independent monitoring of tallying activities - not to mention that impregnable protection of paper "receipts" and paper ballots themselves. Not to mention standardizing precedures vis a vis provisional ballots and mail-in absentee ballots.

Now we need other states to accept the California outcome and get rid of their electronic voting & tallying machines. It's not just the touch-screens, but the optical scanners which use electronic tallying which can be rigged. At least the optical scanners have the paper ballot, but any electronic counters are at least a risk.
Now, if we can check all the election officials who claim to be Dems, but who take their orders from Republican Secretarys of State (as happened in Ohio).
Then we need to have the exit poll information exhumed for examination. If it was good enough for a re-vote in the Ukraine it's of interest here at home too. Remember, it was the same American polling company which did both elections (US and UKR).
There are so many particulars which need checked.

You mentioned Hunter S. Thompson, so I have an excuse for continuing OT here.
This is a link that I found recently, and it's long and involved, and won't make much sense to those who haven't read about the HST "suicide". It's a long read. However, it provides info that can be used as the basis of a google search or two. This includes The Franklin Cover-up and this info about a Saudi neighbor:
"Do you know that Prince Bandar, brother of the king of Saudi Arabia and Saudi Ambassador to the U.S., was a nearby neighbor of Hunter Thompson? This is the same Prince Bandar who was recently photographed literally holding hands with George Bush and later kissing him bye-bye at an oil pricing-and-production meeting?"

PRESS RELEASE: Arcata Adopts Voter Confidence Resolution
-----------------------------------------------
PRESS RELEASE: FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
"VOTER CONFIDENCE RESOLUTION"
ADOPTED IN ARCATA, CA
CA City Proclaims U.S. Election Methods
Ensure Inconclusive Outcomes, Calls for Immediate Reform
-----------------------------------------------
July 20, 2005 --- Arcata, CA. The Arcata City Council, known worldwide for championing some of the most progressive political and environmental movements in the U.S., is now taking the lead on election reform through their adoption of the nation's first Voter Confidence Resolution.
"The Voter Confidence Resolution is a common sense statement saying privatized election machines and secret vote counting ensure inconclusive outcomes. Under these conditions we will never have unanimous agreement about election results," says Dave Berman, co-founder of the Voter Confidence Committee of Humboldt County, CA. "The Arcata City Council has demonstrated that our local government does hear the voice of the people, even when the federal government has stopped listening."
The Voter Confidence Resolution passed by a margin of 3 to 2 after 15 months of community lobbying and ultimately just 35 minutes of official public comment and discussion. Councilmember Dave Meserve voted with the majority and said, "Adopting the Voter Confidence Resolution is an important step in establishing the legitimacy of our federal elections. I'm pleased that Arcata was the first City to pass the Voter Confidence Resolution and hope that many other cities will follow."
Also voting in support of the resolution were Councilmembers Harmony Groves; and Paul Pitino, who said, "The Voter Confidence Resolution is a step in the right direction toward election reform. Someday we should have ranked choice voting and make our elections more democratic. I also support people running without endorsements and on a limited budget."
The Resolution also states that the Consent of the Governed, defined in the Declaration of Independence as the self-evident truth from which Government derives 'just Power,' is no longer being sought through elections in America. Unverifiable votes, privatized source code, and secret vote counting ensure inconclusive outcomes. Since the results are inherently uncertain, the Resolution states, there is no basis for confidence.
"This is where the faith-based and reality-based communities intersect," Berman said. "Ronald Reagan said 'Trust, but verify.' If only we could. Thirty percent of the votes cast last November could not be recounted. All votes must be verifiable or there is no basis for confidence in the results reported."
Around the U.S., election reform advocates are actively organizing and lobbying their City Councils to pass the Voter Confidence Resolution as well. The resolution adopted by Arcata has been developed at Berman's blog, http://guvwurld.blogspot.com and is presented as a template to be customized somewhat by other participating communities. However, the following points are the framework for the Resolution, which when used around the country will generate a cumulative impact as more and more resolutions pass:
1. The way it works now, we're guaranteed inconclusive outcomes and we'll never have unanimous agreement about election results.
2. The Voter Confidence Resolution contains a comprehensive election reform platform designed to ensure conclusive outcomes and create a new basis for confidence in U.S. federal elections.
3. Since the Consent of the Governed is not being sought, we ask: Has the Consent of the Governed been withdrawn, YET?
The benefit of cumulative impact means it is assumed that citizens will eventually switch the answer to this question from no, to YES, the Consent of the Governed HAS been withdrawn.
Berman added: "I have no doubt that other communities will pass the Voter Confidence Resolution. The question is how many will it take before we can say the Consent of the Governed has been withdrawn?"

spent his whole life preparing for was just beginning? His voice
could have brought so much to this fight. So many times I regret
that Malcolm and Martin are not here to share their wisdom and
their growth, JFK, RFK, Fred Hampton, Phil Ochs, Gary Webb.
If HST's family is in on a coverup, what can we do? Perhaps in

Colleen, great post. You keep having those after -work whatevers!
This is GREAT news, but Diebold is going to "fix" the problems and resubmit in 30 days. The mere fact that Diebold is even up for the gig in CA when they've been sued by blackboxvoting and LOST and had to pay big settlements tells us this is an important but likely brief victory.
I hate to be such a pessimist, but... just read what Wayne Madsen (www.waynemaden.com) has to say about what the Bushies are doing to all the people around Patrick Fitzgerald. Fitzgerald has at most until October before his career is officially over. This thugocracy just gets more and more brazen every day, and the press is right in lockstep.
I think the most positive thing going on right now is the unraveling in Ohio courtesy of the fantastic reporting of the Toledo Blade. It's only a matter of time until that whole crooked infrastructure collapses, and when it does, the connection to the stolen election will be obvious. But will anyone report it?

If Lee Harvey Oswald fired the shot that blew JFK's head open, then the laws of physics were repealed on that day.
This is the biggest red herring in American history. Anyone looking at the Zapruder film even once can easily see that the top of JFK's head was struck at a 2 o'clock position (when viewing the motorcade from the rear), and that his brain matter flew to an 8 o'clock position (from the same angle). Jackie was on JFK's left, and was sprayed with his brains.
At that moment the Book Depository was at a 6 o'clock position relative to the motorcade. Thus, if the final shot had come from Oswald, the projectile necessarily made a 120-degree turn in midair without losing speed. I suspect Isaac Newton would object to this notion.
Don't know if Karla has done any homework on the JFK assassination. If she had, she might know that Oswald was PRETENDING TO BE A COMMUNIST by passing out leaflets for the Fair Play for Cuba Committee in New Orleans. There was no chapter in New Orleans (Oswald was it), and he passed out the leaflets within a few feet of where Clay Bannister and David Ferrie occupied an office. To put it mildly, they weren't Communists.
Finally, George Bush, Sr. might be the only living person over age 50 who doesn't remember exactly where he was when JFK was murdered. Asked by a reporter, he said, "I THINK I was in Houston."
I didn't make any of this up, folks.

It is a known fact that William Greer who was driving the car killed Kennedy. We'll never get a conviction of these bastards until there is an all democratic Senate, that's a guarantee.
It doesn't matter what anyone tells you....They white-washed the JFK murder and have buried it for years. Now, look at this picture for proof.

The CIA led coup, which George Senior knew about, killed Kennedy because of his anti illuminati/knights of malta stance. It was done on behalf of Lyndon Johnson.

I'll say it again... we can't rely on Blackwell to do anything no matter what the evidence says.
The only thing that will work in Ohio is a dramatic and widespread direct appeal to voters. If ACT can trot around registering voters door-to-door for weeks on end... surely somebody who lives in Ohio (maybe ACT volunteers) would be willing to go door-to-door once again.
It is mildly insulting that an organization will go door-to-door in the poor neighborhoods when an election is around the corner to advocate for this or that candidate.... it is a slap in the face to refuse to go back when their very right to vote hangs in the balance.
Door-to-door is cheap, it is more convincing, it builds real relationships, and it gives the people you are talking to the chance to direct the action. Voting rights started grassroots... it should stay that way.

Tobacco,
Yes you are correct. CA may also push to throw Arnold in jail for breaking the law.
Ohio voters and the people must push to permamently reject Diebold's TSx system and the Diebold reg. system that Blackwell has in his office.
They must also go after and hire prosecutors, at least two by putting full pressure on the department. Blackwell should be forced to either resign, or be arrested by force if he keeps stonewalling the investigation into GOP's illegal campaign money and election fraud.
I wonder if Ohio could even instant-runoff vote the crook out...

everybody should read Kennedy's 6-10-63 speech at American

This was of course after he rejected the Joint Chiefs' Operation

long time no blog! Possibly my wireless problems are solved and hopefully I can hear the Brad Show tonight!!!
Just wanted to make a comment about CA and Diebold. While this is a great start it's not going to change much. The main problem with electronic voting is the Tabulators. ALL votes whether punch cards, DRE, Optical Scan - all the votes are counted at the county level on Tabulators and virtually ALL "brands" of them them - GEMS (Diebold), ES&S, Triad... they're ALL designed with a "back door" so to speak, where data can be manipulated with NO TRACE left.
I'm dyin' to share the book I've been helping my friend, ms in la from Clark Community Network with. She started it Nov. 04 and the information is gonna blow you guys away!! Are there any statistics, comparing the timelines of the installation of electronic voting machines vs. the timeline of the Republicans gaining control of the House, Senate, presidency, and gubernatorial elections in recent years? How about I'll take a wild guess: REPUBLICAN VICTORIES COINCIDE WITH AN INCREASE IN THE INSTALLATION OF ELECTRONIC VOTING MACHINES!
How about I won't even look it up! I'm right, without looking it up. Someone else look it up, I'm not wasting my time with something I already know.
Also, didn't wasn't Rossi's % out of whack on electronic voting machines vs. non-electronic?

Jen,
I'll take a wild guess and say its the far-right extremists counting the votes. They are doing it with the shady support of terrorists.
This was reported some time ago if you ever visited this website
http://www.cronus.com/electionfraud/
The council national policy/fellowship aka "illuminati reborn" group was always counting the votes by owning the machines. In it, every major donation has always gone to a republican or democrat who is **endorsed by their extreme policies** for candidacy...
Read up on Jack Abramoff who is under federal investigation....He's just the tip of their crazy network.
But with DEE-Bold aka Diebold getting completely kicked out of 3 states including California....We must know that the tabulators will also be removed and we will get new auditable tabulators put there. Just remember, the VOTERS are who have to decide. Not the corrupt corporatists who take DEE-Bold bribes in Ohio and all over the place....

Thanks, MMIIXX. I've watched the videos from the link you posted up the thread here. :Shivers: But after 9/11 I've been learning a whole lot about the darker side.

Ten percent works O.K. as a tithe
Voting errors that high make us writhe
With their polling abuses, and LoParo's excuses
You could cut Diebold's stench with a scythe
As the Reagans advised about drugs
"Just say no" to touchscreens and their bugs
Well, we did try to warn ya', and now California
Has "said no" to these villainous thugs
