Some blogsite calling itself "Respect in Politics", which claims to be "nonpartisan" and "nonprofit", is simply light-headed with concern over what some disrespectful substitute radio talk show host said on the radio recently!

The site announces at the top of each page that "the lack of respect and civility" is "too frequent in politics and the media" and "needs to be addressed". Well, we agree with the general premise, of course, but only in the case where respect and civility have been earned, not merely granted.

For some unspecified reason, their courageously pseudonymous blogger "Mike888" seems to believe that both the late con-man and apparent-criminal Andrew Breitbart and the Republican Congress Members in the U.S. House of Representatives who continue to confound the idea of a government of the people, by the people and for the people, are somehow owed some sort of either respect or civility when they are discussed over our public airwaves.

So who is that disrespectful --- actually "crude", as they describe it --- substitute radio host who was so offensive in "criticizing the right"? Oh, my...it looks like that would be yours truly, naturally...

• RICK PILTZ, formerly a Senior Associate in the Office of the Federal Climate Science Program, until resigning in 2005 as a whistleblower during the Bush Administration, charging that they were censoring global warming science from White House science reports. He went on to create ClimateScienceWatch.org and was arrested along with NASA's James Hansen while protesting against the Keystone XL pipeline at the White House in 2011. I was the first to do a full-length radio interview with Piltz, on my old weekend radio show, on June 18, 2005, just after he blew the whistle. This will be our first conversation since then!

I actually didn't mean this to be a commercial. I was simply going to share Mike Malloy's brief "Podcast Trivia" question from last Friday night's show since I found it so hilarious and a classic example of why a free world needs Mike Malloy.

In grabbing it from the archives to post the segment here, I also heard his earlier plea for folks to consider subscribing to the Mike Malloy Show podcasts to help the show continue to stay on the air. So I've tacked that to the front of the clip I'd planned to run here below.

I hope you will consider subscribing, if only as a way to help support Progressive Radio over our public airwaves, since those airwaves have been, by and large, "bought" up by mega-corporations who have removed all true market competition from them (here's just one recent, appalling example), and we have a government either too cowardly or too corrupt to protect them for its citizenry.

So it's up to folks like you and me to do whatever we can. Thanks in advance for your help!
