“I do” support marriage equality

I do 74Blogger “Blobby” – Cleveland, OH supports Marriage Equality

Last month I wrote about The Seattle Times “I do” social media campaign supporting the Marriage Equality referendum on their ballot in November. To show my support, each day this week I will post photos of people posing with The Seattle Times “I do” sign.

Will you speak out and show your support?

If you would like me to post a picture of you, please download this PDF, take a picture with this sign, and email it to: BosGuymail@gmail.com.

Restaurant review: BoMA Restaurant and Bar

After more false starts than an entire NFL season, BoMA Restaurant + Bar finally opened their doors to the public last week.  The renovation of the space is dramatic and exudes a warm and cozy vibe.  Dark colors contrast with the exposed brick and oversized, unique chandeliers that provide a relaxing environment to meet for drinks or grab dinner.BoMA Restaurant and Bar

The dinner menu at BoMA has sixteen options including “Small Plates” which is how Chef Bussell describes appetizers; these range from $8-$12.  The menu also includes three options referred to as “Lighter Fare”, but think “pub grub” since it includes food like their burger with duck fat french fries.  Lastly, there are six “Large Plates” ranging from $20-$27.

BoMA Restaurant and BarWe started our dinner with the roasted beets and goat cheese salad $11 and roasted clams and chorizo $12. Both were very satisfying, but I preferred the clams and chorizo with my ale.  Beer lovers note BoMA has 16 craft beers on draft that will rotate with the seasons.  Below you can see we opted for the comfort food listed in the “Lighter Fare” portion of the menu.  The Fish-n-Chips is $15 and the BoMA burger is $14.  Both hit the spot and I predict will be some of the restaurant’s best sellers.BoMA Restaurant and Bar

Earlier this month I was invited to try their menu and we ordered the Chestnut Ravioli, Duck Confit, Rabe in Pistachio Cream ($24) and Grass Fed Hangar Steak, Texas Hash, Greens in Chili Garlic Butter ($26); read here for more about these tempting meals.

As mentioned above, BoMA is located in the South End at 1415 Washington Street across from The Cathedral of the Holy Cross.  Although BoMA was not taking reservations this past weekend you can call ahead at (617) 536-2662.

Happy Hump Day: Trojan vibrator giveaway

Boston’s Mayor made national headlines late last week when he expressed his displeasure with Trojan condoms plan to distribute “Trojan Vibrations” sex toys from their “Pleasure Carts” on City Hall Plaza. When I first heard the story, I figured I’d save it for today since it is technically “Hump Day” and the theme of the post seemed to lend itself so nicely.

It is hard to say if Trojan will be allowed to distribute their product but if a similar promotion, that was held in NYC earlier this year (also over the objection of their mayor), is any indication of the public’s interest there will be quite a buzz on City Hall Plaza.

Will this give-away come to pass or will the Mayor’s uptight response be the ultimate buzz kill? Who can say for sure, but I’ll do my best to keep you posted.

All Hallow’s Eve Halloween Party Friday

Halloween PartyStill deciding what to do this weekend?  Let me throw another option into the mix: Tobie’s All Hallow’s Eve Costume Party at The Red Fez.

If you’re staying in town, this is the place you’ll want to check out.  With no cover and Tobie’s handsome invite list, you’re guaranteed some of the city’s best people watching.  Your’s truly will be attending. I plan to have a few cocktails and snap photos of people in drag costume.  RSVP today, since the party is expected to fill to capacity.

The Welcoming Committee

Earlier this month, those crazy kids over at The Welcoming Committee announced their first “Take Over” event down at Foxwoods Casino.  Starting tonight, prices for this event will increase a bit so I wanted to give anyone contemplating the trip a bit of a nudge.

After all, who doesn’t love a wicked good bargain?

You may read more about all the fun on The Welcoming Committee blog.  Rooms are available for you to reserve for you (and your friends), but they also have created a roommate link for those looking to split costs and save the extra cash for drinks and the casino (isn’t that thoughtful of them?) Lastly, here is the link to buy tickets to the takeover.
