Jon Stewart Takes McCain and Graham to Task for Hypocrisy of Susan Rice Attacks
Senators John McCain and his BFF Lindsey Graham found themselves receiving some similar criticism to that dished out last week by Rachel Maddow, when she slammed McCain for all of the times he said something wrong on a Sunday show. If these two and their "third amigo" Kelly Ayotte want to keep making hypocritical asses of themselves with their petulant attacks on U.N. Ambassador Susan Rice, I just hope there's more segments like this to come.
Jon Stewart exposes blatant hypocrisy of McCain and Graham:
The two senators have pilloried Rice for saying the attack in Benghazi was the result of a spontaneous protest against an anti-Islam film. However, Stewart noted that both McCain and Graham had falsely told the public that Iraqi strongman Saddam Hussein was stockpiling weapons of mass destruction.
“Unfortunately, that’s not really a fair one-to-one comparison, because Susan Rice admitted to the error within weeks — these two still refuse to acknowledge that invading a country based on information from a source named ‘curveball’ was actually considered a pretty shitty idea by many at the time,” Stewart said.
“If only we had a more direct comparison to make here. Like another high-ranking government official passing what they knew at the time was misleading intelligence to the American public on a Sunday news show, also in line to become secretary of state, and was African American, and a woman, and lets say her name was also Rice. That’d be something.”
Stewart went on to play a mash-up of clips of McCain and Graham, lying about our invasion of Iraq and defending Condoleezza Rice. What's really pathetic is that any of these hypocrites are allowed to appear before what passes for our "news" organizations without being ripped to shreds as Stewart did here.
This has to be one of John Stewart's best segment ever!!!!
I think these turds are not fooling anybody but themselves. These Republicans just do not get it. I saw McTurtlehead yesterday spewing the same crap he was spewing for the past 3 1/2 years. Keep it up idiots. Next thing we know we will be getting Saxby Chambliss' seat in the Senate.
Rude Pundit has addressed this issue as well in yesterday's (11/28/2012) post:

I try to live my life as a shining example of what your mother warned you about.
I can see why Senator John McGnome is doing this – he HATES that KenyanSocialistFascistCommunistMuslimAtheist Usurper who trounced him, and his ill-chosen and wildly unqualified VP candidate, and wants to take his Uppity Nigrahness down as many notches as humanly possible.
And I understand Scarlett O’Graham’s motivation – to be reelected to the Senate from the state which is too large to be declared an asylum, whose state bird is a flying booger, and whose state food and dietary staple is paste. The state where belligerant stupidity, and mindless ignorance, are requirements for consideration to public office.
And besides, by being staying close at all times to the Senior Citizen Senator from Alzeihemer-zona, means that no one else can get ahead of Scarlette in the nighty rush to gently polish Ol’ Man McGnome’s knob.
But what is Kelly Ayotte game in this?
What’s she out to prove? That she’s as tough on black women who aren’t Republicans as the other members of the GOP: Graying Old Penis-party?
That she’s the anti-Jeanne Shaheen?
Ah, I think I know – she’s trying to build her street cred with the base, by opposing anything that Darkie in the Whities House is for.
She’s also testing her belligerance chops, with plans for higher office in the future. And you can’t be allowed in the Republican Presidential primaries, unless you’re an ignorant belligerant @$$hole!
On the molehill they’re trying make into a mountain, with a NH woman to take the place of Joe Lieberman, “The New Three Amigo’s – With A Woman, Too, Boogaloo,” are building a pyre of fire – and, if they can’t burn the Black Warlock, they’ll settle for one of his Black Witch’s. What they’re really burning, is their already sad, sordid reputations.
Hey, McGnome and Scarlett, have some concern for your Kelly-girl. Don’t you realize that while you’re throwing your poo, you’re soiling her too?
In this Republican three-way, their bride is wearing shite.
that these three just can't get off their attack on Susan Rice. They are trying to preemptively remove her from consideration and at the same time have no problem with John Kerry as Sec of State. Only three Repub senators campaigned for Scott Brown in Massachusetts. Guess which three. It was McCain, Graham and Ayotte. If Kerry becomes Sec of State his senate seat goes up for a special election. And what Republican would run for that seat? Scott Brown of course. Maybe it's all just a big coincidence and maybe birds will fly out of my ass the next time I take a crap.

Rice frankly looks more qualified to run a hedge fund, having acquired $20-40 million in investments, including oil/tar sands, Canadian banks, etc etc over the last 20 years.
Under Clinton she got a top Africa job with zero experience of doing any work IN Africa. Does anyone seriously believe the Democrats can't come up with a more public service oriented expert for State, one who perhaps has spent more time and effort in foreign affairs and diplomacy? And less in accumulating tens of millions in financial assets?
I know. Let's keep Hillary, 'cause she and her hubby are flat broke. Oh, wait...
I've been waiting for C&L to post something else about Susan Rice, because there is another controversy brewing about her that is completely unrelated to any of this Benghazi bullshit, and Jon Stewart has certainly underscored brilliantly what a load of bullshit that all is. (Even Joe Scarborough is in agreement, as C&L showed yesterday.)
The new controversy I'm speaking of has to do with Susan Rice's holdings in TransCanada pipelines (to the tune of half a million dollars) and other oil producing stocks. The story is here: http://www.commondreams.org/headline/2012/11/...
All this presents a clear conflict of interest particularly in regard to the pending Keystone pipeline approval -- which Romney promised to give the go-ahead to on day one of his administration, so the Republicans may not see any of this as a problem or want to ask Susan Rice any questions about it, but I do.
But if it suits their interests they have no problem having a hissy fit over a Democrat acting like a Republican.

Try Three Stooges. And all three are Curly.
is intended to be a factual statement
She's a Rhodes scholar with a Ph.d in international relations. Was an ambassador to the United Nations.
Remember that McCain thought that Sarah Palin was a highly qualified candidate, and she barely graduated college. She also quit her job as the Governor of a very small town in Alaska after two years (and during that time she made a mess of things). She's hardly what you would call an intellectual, and is a big fan of spouting gibberish, and thinking she's a lot smarter than she actually is.
Rice, on the other hand, has years of experience, advance degrees (as in multiple degrees) in her field of work, has years of international relations experience (No offense to Alaska, but that's a lot more impressive than being a failed governor of a tiny hamlet). She's also won awards for her work, taught economics. Worked in finance.
Yet people like McCain think a person like Palin is highly qualified, yet Susan Rice is not.
McCain is jut an angry old man screaming at clouds at this point. Let him keep making a fool of himself.
population but does have some of the best resources, hardly a small hamlet. I do have to agree with you about the Governor though. She's not the sharpest knife in the drawer.
The reason that McCain is frantically raising hell is because he is destined for the oblivion of the Indian Affairs comittee. This is a pathetic attempt to somehow stay relevant although he really hasn't been in years. He is just a really pissed off old bastard. He has overstayed his time on the national stage.
stated they had no idea that someone could use an airplane as a weapon.....
As far as McCain and Graham....it boils down to stupid constituents....
Yay, my evil plan to destroy hetero marriages (and all of american society) is finally coming to fruition! Can't wait for the destruction to begin here in Washington state! Why should Iowa and Massachusetts have all the fun destroying marriages and society? What's that? Straights are still married in Massachusetts despite 10 years of gay marriage? Isn't that odd? Wonder what's up with that?
oops sorry wrong thread!
Why doesnt anyone ask McCain and Susan Collins if they discussed the security of American diplomats in Lybia with Gadaffi WHEN THEY MET WITH HIM a few years back???
And WTF has Kelly Ayotte got to do with anything??? - Disgraceful hypocrits the lot of 'em.
and John McCain came on I would mention his comment about how fast we got info on bin Ladin as compared to how long it took re Benghazi not noting the first op was run by us under constant contact. I would then ask if he would agree that this was a pretty stupid fuckin comment, even for a United States Senator.

Karen Finney's reply to Ed Schulz Wednesday evening when she was asked about all the hand-wringing over the repeating of 'bad intelligence' ....she brought up the lack of outrage of the absolutely missed outrage of the severe lack of 'intelligence' pre-9/11....especially since Rice (Condi) was supposedly the damn NSA Advisor....
but then, THAT was 'different'......so they say....
