I would restart the airline, scrap all their soviet aircraft and replace them with glossy Boeing, Airbus and bombardier aircraft.

Well, the better thing to do, is negotiate with korean air, and transfer air koryo to south korea, and korean air to north korea

I'd do a fleet overhaul, replacing old planes with new ones of similar range and capacity. Here's what would be added, replaced, subtracted:

 

• Antonov 24: replace all three with ATR 42-600s
• Antonov 148: no change. It's a relatively new plane.
• Ilyushin 18: Replace with Embraer 170 AR
• Ilyushin 62: Replace one with an A320, and keep the other one for heritage reasons. (Air Koryo and the Il-62 seem to go hand in hand like Pan Am and the 747)
• Tupolev 134: Replace both with Embraer 175s
• Tupolev 154: Keep since it's still relatively new. Have an A320 on order for replacement.
• Tupolev 204: Keep since it's still relatively new. Have two A350-800s on order for replacement.

I chose not to use Boeing planes because filthy American imperialism.

 

Also, with this new fleet, I'd open flights to Tokyo, Los Angeles, and various major European cities.
