  1. That is one big helo!! looks like it builds up nicely. Praying to the plastic Gods that they do a CH-53, any version. Vietnam CH-53A, Desert Storm CH-53D or E, and of course the CH-53K....
  2. Ok, I should have prefaced that with - not in my ability wheelhouse....LOL🙃 I admit I am not a very good scratch builder. But there are composite 1/72 scale blades out there to kit bash from. Thanks Andy as always keeping the 'ol Gunny corrected and up to speed!!! Cheers! Gunz
  3. Not that I can think of no. As the whole shape of the blade root and cord are completely different.
  4. Tank, The CH-53K was at the Paris Airshow in 2019. The German's and Isrealis were amongst the countries seriously looking at its capability, along with Japan. there were a ton of press folks there, and the airplane was for sure a hit. I believe the Kilo has been to: New River Air Show Miramar Air Show - need to verify may have not made it in 2023 Yuma Air Show The fleet hit IOC (Initial Operating Capability, for those who didn't know) in 3rd QTR FY22. HMH-461 of New River, NC, 2nd MAW completed their transition to the K in 2022-2023 time ff
  5. Here she is when I picked her up at the El Toro Airshow. UT-10, HMT-302.
  6. Great looking Scheme Dave!!! Old school camo, my favorite scheme! I had a CH-53A come back from NARF Pensacola back in the day, 1988, and it was in these exact colors loved it! The solid greens and solid blah grays are just that ..............blah. But i get the tactical necessity. Bravo Zulu Sir! Gunz
  7. We had this discussion over on another thread a while back. I think we all came to the realization, Andy help me out if I forget, but the new release Academy of the CH-53A/D of "Operation Frequent Wind" the evacuation of Saigon, HMH-462, HMH-463 aircraft, included all of the relevant sprues to make any of the H-53's in 1/72nd. Scalemates has shots of the sprues. CH-53A - Slick no tanks CH-53D - with correct 650 gallon aux tanks HH-53B - with correct 400 gallon low profile tanks HH-53C - " " " " " " MH-53J - with corr
  8. Have not heard a thing. And, yes the fleet is ramping up as fast as Sikorsky can get them out the door. One can dream of a CH-53K in either scale 1/48th or 1/35th...........
  9. Looking good Marine!! I have yet to tackle this model, alwaysw wanted too. I built the Revell 1/48th H-34 when it first came out. fun build, but you and Oliver take it to a whole other level. OOH RAH!! Semper Torque!
  10. Mostly for corrosion control. The new semi-gloss helps the fleet keep the aircraft cleaner and less engine exhaust build up. As you well know if you know to call them "Shitters" that they are one messy helicopter. A lot of oil leaks, hyd leaks, grease etc. It is what it is, they leak. It was thought for years that any type of gloss finish on military aircraft would make that aircraft a target for Air to air, Ground to air missile systems. Well over the last 10 + years that thought has gone away. I am not sure of the actual paint ingrediants, nor will I speculate as most of the LOW IR pa
  11. so what do you want to know? I can answer pretty much any question you have on that. Gull gray-esq how? what do you mean? we paint the aircraft out of NARF Depot according to the NAVAIR orders on scheme and colors. I am at a loss as to what you mean? Motivation to what? Gunny
  12. Happy Thanksgiving ARC family! I am thhankful that I can still do this fabulous hobby after 50+ years! Blessings to all of you and your families! Enjoy the day. r/Gunny Dan
  13. Dutch, I see the SAC "SASH" on this aircraft, but it looks to me as the radome has been canibalized from another aircraft hence the different demarcation lines for the SASH. Thoughts? gunny
