Adult males have a large head and thick mane and can weigh up to 200 kilos while a female weighs about 50 kilos
at most. They are dark or greyish brown in colour but can look black when wet.
A female will have one pup each year and feed it on milk for 12 months. |

They have been hunted for their fur in the past and are still killed in fishing nets. | |||
