 The Wall Street Journal published an article on "groundbreaking/revolutionary green energy" failures.  Ace's Place has some lowlights.

The good news?  Some of their investment money came from US businesses--thus highlighting the Stupid Class who made those dumbass decisions.  They can and should be fired for Gross Dumbassery.

The bad news?  Much of the rest came from the US taxpayer.  Government figures guilty of Gross Dumbassery move on, spending more tax money on other failures; then they retire on taxpayer-paid pensions.  What a deal!

...A company backed by United Airlines that raised hundreds of millions of dollars to turn trash into jet fuel appears to have shut down. Another, backed by Airbus, JetBlue and GE Aerospace, that was working on using hydrogen to power planes went bust. Chevron, BP and Shell, meanwhile, are scaling back projects to make biofuels from cooking fats, oils, greases and plant material....

Meantime, Plug Power, LanzaJet, and Gevo, producers of "green hydrogen", cannot sell said "green" goo unless ...........YOU.............the taxpayer, provide a subsidy.

Throckmorton of AOSHQ summarizes:

...For those of us who champion actual free enterprise, these government-subsidized “clean energy” companies are an abomination. Their failure is necessary, not only to save us from the anti-carbon Net Zero agenda, but also to save free-market capitalism....

One thing that Throckmorton forgets:  his children and grand-children will be paying off those failures for eternity.  That's the real price of those failures, and it's not a "good".

...Families of 9/11 victims argued in a 71-page brief filed on May 7 that al-Bayoumi operated under the directions of the Saudi Kingdom. Along with “casing” the Capitol, he served as the handler for al-Hazmi and al-Mihdhar.

Additionally, new evidence in recent years has suggested that not only was al-Bayoumi a Saudi agent; he was also an asset of the CIA. That information has been coming from the proceedings against 9/11 defendants at Guantanamo Bay....

"Do-Nothing Tammy's" Deceptions

 It's not news that Tammy Baldwin is a lesbian, nor is it news that her "partner" is a Morgan Stanley 'wealth advisor.'

For that matter, it's not news that Tammy lies like Hell about her record in Congress.  She lies when she advertises that 'her bill' required the Government to purchase US-made iron and steel.  It was Donald Trump's executive order that accomplished that; Tammy's bill never even got through the Senate.  She claims to have 'pushed' a "strong" immigration bill, but that bill would allow 35,000 illegals/year into the country.  She claims to have "pushed through" an anti-fentanyl bill; in reality, the bill is toothless and there were 67 other co-sponsors.  (But it did send a boatload of taxpayer dollars to Kiev, ya'know.) 

She also does the trickery-and-deceit dance about 'her bill' requiring Congressional spouses to 'divest' or 'blind-trust' any investments owned--because she wants you to think it will make Tammy 'clean.'

Wrong. 

...A new bill to ban senators and their spouses from buying individual stocks that Sen. Tammy Baldwin (D-Wisc.) touts in a new ad wouldn’t apply to Baldwin’s partner because the couple is not married, Daniel Lippman reports....

Tammy's partner has a lot of insider info, so they do very well together:

  ...in 2021 the couple bought a $1.3 million home together in Washington, splitting the cost of the property...

That "partner" has never disclosed 'assets' nor net worth.  Why?  Because Tammy won't require it.

 ...While Andrew Mamo, a campaign spokesperson for the Baldwin campaign explained to the outlet that Baldwin “follows all ethics guidelines when it comes to her financial disclosure reports,” Brisbane has not appeared on Baldwin’s Financial Disclosure Reports, though the couple has been together since 2018...

Twelve years of her do-nothing, deceptive, "partnered" reign is enough.  If we wanted "Do-Nothing," we could have elected Nobody.  Tammy's got enough money now--with her "partner."

Catholic Charities Efforts in Springfield, OH

 We notice that Catholic Charities is assisting Haitians in Springfield, OH.

A new Springfield facility that will provide services including help with immigration status applications, legal advocacy and case management, will open this year.

Located at 448 E. High St., it will be operated by Catholic Charities of Southwest Ohio, which has been providing aid in Springfield for about a year and a half, CEO Tony Stieritz said during a Haitian Coalition meeting Wednesday. He said he is expecting to be able to begin providing services within a month....

... the team will help connect clients to English learning classes for employment, employment training, resume preparation, application assistance and job development. He said they will also assist with asylum, visas, status, citizenship, other humanitarian immigration relief, and providing nutritious recipes for bar-b-qued cat and dog, along with a variety of delicious oven-cooking goose and duck recipes.

That last part may not be entirely true.

Nice essay by Throckmorton at Ace's place regarding the fall of institutions.  He mentions his old Presbyterian church--which has closed--and there are lots of others.

The commonality?  The Left took over and they are running the places into the ground.  They don't really care about what the institution stood for, and are not about to commit volunteering-time, nor money, to something about which they don't really give a damn.........but they're perfectly happy to take the money afforded them for showing up.  See, e.g., Alverno College in Milwaukee, or the Art Institute of Chicago, mentioned in the linked essay.

Trump vs. The Deficit/Debt Problem

What with Trump's "no-tax" proposals on tips and overtime, it appeared that he was not too concerned about the budget deficits and national debt.

Not true.

In the video at this link, Trump states that his tariff regime(s) will make a dent in both the deficit AND in the national debt.  The tariffs will provide revenue, of course; and in the long run, they will provide new US-based employment because if a company manufactures its goods in the USA, they will be tariff-free.

Maybe that will work the way Trump envisions it.

But at least he's paying attention to the debt/deficit problem.

Well, Timmy, not if the proposal is like Trump's 2017 cuts:

The Non-Profit Haitian Rackets

...the so-called "businesses" that want the Haitians here (and yes there are) are cheating.  I looked into this; they are trying to pay $17.50/hr for American labor, which can work (that's $35k/yr) if there are $750/mo one-bedroom apartments.  These jobs are not "McJobs" for kids; they're no-BS adult jobs that someone could hold for a lifetime.  They then get a "deal" with an NGO, which got a direct government contract to do it and thus is being paid with your stolen money to pay $9/hr with no benefits or employment taxes because they're not an "employer" anymore (the job shop is), the job shop sticks a $2/hr override on it and makes money that way, the Haitians get $10 and $1,000 a month of direct subsidy and another $700 or so of rent subsidy.  The Haitians then live 4 to a one-bedroom apartment driving the cost of those up to $2,000 a month which instantly makes it impossible for any American to live on that $17.50/hr as that's more than half their pay.  All of these "subsidies" and game-playing are directly and forcibly stolen from the American people and the manufacturer and landlords are the ones doing the stealing.  For this they should all be destroyed and their ashes scattered to the four winds; they're screwing every actual American in the ass, on purpose, and they're gushing over how "wonderful" it is that they're literally screwing every one of their neighbors. ...

A Republican congressman from Tennessee has filed for divorce after 35 years of marriage.  

His wife sent a message to all the other Congressional wives.  But they are not the only people who should read it.  You may notice that your "Conservative" Congressman or Senator is voting differently than his/her "Principles".  There's a reason:

 If you're dumb enough to think that 'there is no video', or that "nobody knows" that your Congressman is not playing on the home court, you really need to step back.  This is one of the ways the Deep State wins votes in Congress.

Enjoying the Harris/Biden Immigration-Crime Rate??

 The FEEBS (of all people) released the latest crime numbers.

...In 2020, Trump’s last full year in office, 1,569,390 violent crimes, excluding simple assaults, were recorded. The figure had risen to 2,485,830 by 2023. (Simple assaults are also up, from 2,988,770 to 3,933,230.)

Rapes and sexual assaults, in particular, are up from 319,950 in 2020 to 481,020 in 2023. Robberies are up from 437,260 to 731,620, and so-called “stranger violence” is up from 1,973,200 to an astonishing 3,233,400.

While some may argue crime could have been lower than usual in 2020 due to coronavirus restrictions limiting people’s movements, every non-domestic violent crime type listed in the Justice Department’s report is also up compared to 2019, before the pandemic....

This is not just Tren de Aragua terrorizing Dane County (yes, they're there) or Aurora, CO.  And it's not just Haitians with their voodoo santeria.

It's exactly what Trump tried to prevent, and what Paul Ryan (and others) asked for.

War Before Election Day (?)

 We've mentioned the possibility before, so it's not a shock here.

I had a very interesting exchange of emails with Ray McGovern yesterday in which he insisted that Mr Putin is not going to react in a dramatic way or in a manner that could cause a further escalation before November 5th. On reflection I think Ray is right. What we have been saying among ourselves--that the Americans are trying to bait the Russians to get them to do something drastic and dire that would justify an American counterattack of devastating nature against Russia before the elections or that would effectively have a war going before the elections to make sure that Kamala gets over the top and wins. The history is that America very rarely changes Government during a war.  So allowing the Grifter-Dictator of Ukraine to fire US-made long-range missiles into--say--Moscow,  using US-provided satellite guidance and US-provided training.......well.......that should get Putin all fired up, right?

The father of an 11-year-old boy who was killed by a Haitian immigrant in Springfield, Ohio, said during a city commission meeting on Tuesday that he wishes his son was instead killed by an “old white man.”

Aiden Clark was killed in August 2023, when a Haitian immigrant, Hermanio Joseph, 36, crossed over the center dividing line and crashed into a full school bus. The 11-year-old was ejected from the bus, which flipped over and then landed on him. More than 20 children were taken to the hospital. Joseph is now facing nine years behind bars after being convicted of involuntary manslaughter. He was not licensed to drive in Ohio....

The "father" of Aiden stepped up to address the city council:

... “Ya know, I wish that my son Aiden Clark was killed by a 60-year-old white man,” the boy’s father, Nathan Clark, said. “I bet you never thought anyone would ever say something so blunt. But if that guy killed my 11-year-old son, the incessant group of hate-spewing people would leave us alone.”...

Guess who's to blame here?

 Most of us don't remember that there were a lot of rescue dogs used at the scene of 9/11.

Here's the story of just one.

...And, of course, there was Bretagne. Golden Retriever. Easygoing. Dutiful. Obsessed with food. Her owner and trainer, Denise Corliss, a firefighter from Harris County, Texas, brought Bretagne to Ground Zero while the rubble was still hot.

Bretagne went straight to work. She worked for 10 days solid. Ten agonizing days. Bretagne never quit. She napped onsite.

Denise recalls: “...There are images of Bretagne going to where she was directed to search, into the unknown, the chaotic environment. But even then, she knew who needed the comfort of a dog, and which firefighter needed to hold her close and stroke her fur.”

After 9/11, Bretagne also helped recovery efforts during the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina, and Ivan. She retired at age 9.

Old age finally overtook her, she had a hard time using stairs, so Denise installed an above-ground pool to keep Bretagne’s joints limber.

In retirement, Bretagne became a reading dog at a local elementary school. First graders, too shy to read aloud, would read to a white-faced, elderly retriever who looked them in the eyes and smiled.

Bretagne visited students with special needs. She visited students with autism. She visited everyone.

She suffered kidney failure at age 16. She was put to sleep on June 7, 2016, and became the last of the 9/11 rescue dogs to end her earthly career.

Bretagne hobbled into the Cypress, Texas, animal hospital, one sunny Monday, only to discover the sidewalks and hallways were lined with firefighters, first responders, and rescue workers who saluted her.

Her remains were later escorted from the hospital, draped in an American flag....

That would meet with Grim's approval, I think.
