Shanghai pledges to deepen Sino-Danish trade ties

Chen Jining, Party secretary of Shanghai, met with Simon Lichtenberg, chairman of the Danish Chamber of Commerce in China (DCCC) and CEO and founder of Trayton Group, on Aug 29.

Chen highlighted Shanghai's role as China's economic hub and a leader in reform and opening-up. He outlined the city's commitment to deepening reforms and promoting high-level international openness, and emphasized its efforts to create a market-oriented, law-based and international business environment for global enterprises.

In addition, he praised the DCCC for its role in fostering Sino-Danish economic and trade relations. He encouraged the chamber to leverage its strengths, seize opportunities in industrial transformation, consumer upgrading, and innovation, and promote economic, trade, and cultural exchanges between China and Denmark.

He also invited the chamber and its members to offer suggestions on how to improve Shanghai's business environment and assured them of the city's commitment to enhancing government-enterprise communication and services, pledging to provide a long-term, stable and predictable environment for domestic and foreign enterprises to thrive.

Lichtenberg and representatives from DCCC member companies shared their experiences in Shanghai, noting the city's importance as a gateway for many Danish businesses entering China. They expressed confidence in Shanghai's future and pledged to increase investment, focusing on sectors such as green and low-carbon initiatives, life and health, infrastructure, and urban planning. They also committed to implementing innovative projects and fostering practical cooperation to strengthen Sino-Danish economic and trade ties.
