I guess every state can lay claim to some unique form of music (I’ll give Rhode Island the benefit of the doubt). But Texas — well, it stands apart, and I’ve assembled proof of that for your consideration.
Texas: Music to our Ears
My favorite photos of 2024
This is the time of year that everyone publishes their "best of..." stories. Mine always starts and ends with photos.
A quick lookback at 2024 through the lenses of my cameras.
For to us a child is born…
...to us a son is given, and the government will be on his shoulders. And he will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.
My wish for each of you this Christmas is that you’ll experience the joy and peace that Jesus freely offers. May God richly bless you and your family!
Venom, anyone? (Part 2)

Reined Deer -or- Buck on a String
This is the worst Christmas decoration job I've ever seen.
A neighborhood deer apparently got crosswise with a construction site installation and emerged victorious but not unmarked.
A Veterans Day Tribute: In My Father’s Own Words
This is a story that I feel is worth repeating on this Veterans Day: my father’s account of his experience in the Army during World War II.
Happy 22nd Blogiversary to The Fire Ant Gazette!
I aspire to be artificially intelligent. This natural stuff isn't working for me.
It’s the Gazette’s 22nd birthday, and I asked a couple of AI bots to take over for me while I celebrate.
Pareidolia -or- Do you see what I see?
Do you see things in things? If so, welcome to the party!
Pareidolia is a psychological phenomenon where our brains make us see things in other things. Or something.
