An open version of this announcement is posted in the Watering Hole. If you have questions, post them in the WH thread, please.
It's that time of year again--time for little naked guys flitting hither, thither and yon, madly shooting arrows of love at the unsuspecting. It's time for chocolate and cards elaborately slathered in flowers and sweet sentiments. Valentine's Day is on the way and that means (small drum roll, please) Cupid's Choice 2015!
For this year's challenge, your merry mod team has chosen the theme of "Sliding Doors". Romance is a road that we often consider back-tracking on, or wish we could. Ever wonder what your life would be like if you hadn't broken up with so-and-so, or not said that particularly "clever" comeback to a significant other that you're still paying for, or what could have been in a parallel universe? Well, wonder out loud! Here is a template for the basic concept of a "Sliding Door" poem - two linked poems that explore the ageless question of "What if I had/hadn't...?"
Everyone entering this contest should send their "Sliding Door" poem to vmh (aka Vicky) for anonymous posting in Challenges. After the contest closes, there will be a poll in the Watering Hole and you, the wonderful PFFA-ers, will vote for your favorite. That winner will be forever more known as PFFA's Most Romantic Poet for 2015!
So the rules. Using the theme, any style, shape, form is fine, 20 lines minimum for the two parts. How you divide them up is up to you as long as one of the realities is as least 5 lines. (Example: 5/15, 8/12, 10/12 - as long as the total of the two parts equals at least 20 lines.) Because of the "double nature" of this theme, one entry only this time, please. PM poems to Vicky by midnight, February 18th. That gives everyone time to come up with a dazzling entry plus allows a little wiggle time for everyone playing in this month's 7/7. Voting will take place over the next week with the winner being announced on February 25th. Yes, I know this after Valentine's Day but you can't hurry love. (Cue The Supremes.)
