By all (three) accounts I read online, Juan Tamariz
is the living master of the art of misdirection.
Tamariz says he wants his audience to dream,
and, lolling there in their seats, they’ll accept
those minor incongruities that dreams parade for us.
A substitution of sunflower seeds for salt crystals.
A male assistant wearing the previous lady’s bodice.
The cards fanning in a backwards bridge. Everywhere
and nowhere is the landscape of a dream; this is Tamariz’s stage.
