    April 1st!!

    At the stroke
    Of midnight,
    it was just her
    And her mom struggling;
    She wouldn’t come
    Her mom wouldn’t give up!
    Half an hour
    It took her
    To see the lights, but
    breathing was a problem
    And no cries
    to any ear , sent
    the Doc. into a frenzy.
    Transportation strike,
    Middle of the night
    Pharmacy after hours
    Electricity was a flicker.
    A prick here and
    one there
    And she cried
    to everyone’s heart’s content.
    Since then, made
    everyone cry with her
    naughtiness and silly jokes!
    Forty plus years
    And still going strong!
    Cheers !

Sounds like a traumatic real life event remembered each year, there is a breathlessness about the narrative and layout that seems to fit the theme, happy NaPo!

    First Picture

    Her thumb in mouth,
    staring with innocence
    at the eye
    that fastens memories
    into itself.
    She sat with her
    colorful dress
    and a hair
    band that matched.
    Cheers !

    Anita,

Happy Birthday is in order, I think! I can hear her first cry and I can feel the relief.

First Picture is a sweet little snapshot. ...the eye that fastens memories into itself says so, so much. I know this, cause I am a momma, too.

    Sick Me!

    A little sniff
    A big snarl
    A little drowsy
    A long drawl
    Eyes burning
    Nose running
    Body aching.
    Mom browsing
    Through parenting
    Magazines. Me playing
    With blocks, but
    Restless and bored
    Waiting forever for
    the door to open
    And the nurse
    to call ‘Anita’.
    Cheers !

heya Anita! glad to see you doing napo! I enjoyed these first 3 - I like the child POV - you don't see that too often so it's a fresh perspective. good stuffs!

Brought me straight into the child's POV with the nurse calling her name. That part was the most vivid for some reason.
