    American Sentence #4

Ants carry up to 50 times their weight, so do unemployed parents.

So much poetry to be found in the life of an ant.

    Hi Denise,
Grandma's Light and Grandpa's Dark are back-to-back winners.

Also was not expecting that ending in American Sentence #4 - such a fitting comparison I never would have thought of.

    Only a few more!!

Denise, I love Grandma's Light--beautifully written and evocative. Grandpa's Dark provides a poignant counterpoint to it.

    Thanks, Tony.

    This is getting ridiculously difficult.

How I Got Even With Mommy

I sat on the tire swing
    in the back yard,
    dragged the new
    Keds she bought
    me in the dirt.

    Sister Love

Once I let my little sister
    come to the pond
    with me and my friends.
    I told her big girls
    skate until their toes
    are numb.

The shy girl - that's a sketch that will be recognised anywhere in the world.

Ants carry - would that be 'times' where 'pound' goes? I wouldn't argue with your conclusion.

How I Got Even - not sure whether to say That'll larn 'er or Wicked girl! - that's to say, the same problem N has.

Sister Love - Gosh, I didn't know whether to be frightened or not with your first three lines. Then I was able to relax and think of big girls skating their toes numb. A flavoured snapshot, that one.

And now the boat is nearing the jetty.

    Regards / Dunc
