    Hey Laurie,

Say Now Little Hands -- Come now, Laurie, he's doing the best job ever. I'm sure the U.S. will become a world leader in the this whole Covid-19 business. There will be great numbers, amazing numbers.

Blame the Girl -- Is a well-crafted tale. I like the historical turn this takes in combination with another twist: this is (or maybe) the song that she wrote. Enjoyed.

    Here's to 28 more. Happy NaPo-ing!

Laurie, really enjoyable poems-and-songs. "Blame the Girl" sustains high interest to the end. Nicely done.

Hey Laurie! Great to see/read you and nice punchy starts. I now dream of the day when every daily misinformation session is punctuated by at least one reporter opening their query with "Say now, little hands...".

Laurie, you always have such a way of looking at these very American scenes, the little details like the size thirteen shoe and the barbed wire. (I still remember those cowboy boots from an early NaPo.)

I very much appreciate the rockin' kiss off to D. If only it were not being sabotaged by TPTB.

Hey Laurie, these two lyrical pieces are great fun. I particularly enjoyed 'Blame the girl' -- a breezy-but-angry romp. Cheers.

Thank you so much Unklebob, Barbara Jean, John, Michelle, Emilio (yes, it really does go best to music), Matt, Jee, Bela, Malinda, Midge. I will get to all of you threads, soon, I hope. I am one of those *essential* people who gets to work from home and am bouncing back and forth between work and home laptops.

Dystopian Rhapsody (intro and verse 1)*

Is this reality? Is it a travesty?
Viral titers with no escape from calamity
Close your doors, don’t touch your face, that’s the strategy
We are just elderly, we get no sympathy
Because we’re just a little too old, a little too slow
Blow the virus up our nose, doesn’t really matter, you see

    Ah, COVID’ll kill us all.
It’s a gun up to our head, deep breath in, now we’re dead
Ah, COVID, you are the one
Now TPs gone, bidets are in they say.
Ah COVID is mean, it’ll make you die
If you don’t hear from me tomorrow
Then I’m gone, soldier on as if it really matters

*Again, credit where due - Queen Bohemian Rhapsody

Dystopian Rhapsody (intro and verse 1): I can relate to this, especially these lines:

We are just elderly, we get no sympathy
Because we’re just a little too old, a little too slow
Blow the virus up our nose, doesn’t really matter

    Fun thread, I'll be back.

    Laurie,
Blame the Girl is sure-footed on an easy-going way, packed with particulars and a hoot as well as an elegy. Great work.
Bohemian Rhapsody is perfect for the COVID rant!

Say Now Little Hands ─ has a sense of chant to it, a sharp smack at Donald with a celebratory air. May it be so! A fun read.

Blame the Girl ─ A whole coming-of-age movie in a few lines. Effective, whirling, strongly told.

Dystopian Rhapsody ─ Mama mia! A song for our times! Most queenly done.

You've now completed 10% of April in fine style.

    Regards / Dunc

Hah! Love the dealing Jim Acosta smack line. Damn that felt good to read. And "Blame the Girl" - gives this man a reason to wallow for a moment in self-loathing, as I remember all the behaviors I love to hate in other men, while being guilty of all of them. And all the times I blamed the girl, starting with my sister, the day she came home after being born, me throwing a full blown tantrum worthy of any 18 month-year old, to my present relationship. God, I am Scum. Yes, I can blame history, and yet I've never wanted to read Les Trois Mousquetaires, and Erroll Flynn was such a dork.

Denise, Sorella, Dunc, - thanks for your comments. Happy to entertain in these times of trouble
oldman - glad to make an impact. Depending on time and energy, I hope to bring that girl back this NaPo to induce further guilt. I also want to rewrite the role of Milady. And D'Artagnan, the dork. We will see what happens.

    Dystopian Rhapsody V.2*

It’s late, this race is done
My chest caught in a vise, body’s shaking, in decline
Goodbye to nobody, I’m all alone
Vent’s no good, antibodies have all gone rogue
Ah, COVID (blow the virus up my nose)
    We’re all gonna die
Lungs gone to shit, this husk’s a crumblin’ wall

    *Credit same as yesterday.

    Hey, Laurie

Blame the Girl: so rich in detail it’s almost impossible not to get involved from the get go. All of it plausible too!
Dystopian 1: Wow - bleaker than a bleak thing from Bleakville and got a 1st in scoured wastelands at the university of viral studies.
Dystopian 2: Is that the Country version?
    Resigned

Hahaha! Carry on, carry on, as if NaPo really matters... thought the harmonies in brackets were a cool touch.
